I shook my head.
‘Impossible.’
Owen and I barely interact at all. We've never exchanged more than a handful of words.
If he wasn't friends with Adrian, we never would have even crossed paths.
I figured he meant he didn't want to get in the middle of his friend's relationship.
So he thought I was going to break up with Adrian. That's the only reason he came tonight.
"I never meant to make you the other man. I just wanted a one-night stand… forget it, I don't know how to explain any of this. If you don't want to go through with it, we can just pretend nothing happened today. I'm sorry for wasting your time."
I pulled my robe tighter around me, deciding right then to end this ridiculous revenge plan.
I stood up to leave.
But Owen climbed out of the hot spring too, and wrapped his arms around me from behind.
His voice carried the cool bite of the night air.
"Don't go. I won't ask anything else."
The second the words left his mouth, he pressed a kiss to the nape of my neck.
I shivered, and all the strength I'd had to push him away just drained right out of me.
Owen lifted me up easily in his arms and carried me inside.
He set me down on the big, soft bed, then stood over me, legs apart, looking down.
His long, pale hand drifted over me again.
"Mandy… if it hurts later, you can bite me."
I turned my face away and said nothing, wondering how bad it could really be.
Turns out this "Little Wolf Dog" really lives up to his name, wild and intense.
"Relax."
"I am relaxed."
"Are you sure?"
I was just about to fire back when he moved, fast and fierce, like a sudden summer storm.
"Mmm…"
Owen's eyes were half-lidded, and he let out a low, satisfied breath.
It was too much. I tried to push him away, but he caught both my wrists in one hand and pinned them above my head.
"Mandy… it's too late to back out now."
His kisses came down all over me, but when he leaned in to kiss my lips, I turned my head away.
Kissing on the mouth feels too intimate for a one-night stand, right? It just feels wrong.
I couldn't see his face, but the next moment he caught my earlobe gently between his teeth. He grazed it slowly, again and again, with that small sharp canine tooth, like a jolt of heat running straight through every part of me.
I bit my lip hard.
Then I heard him whisper roughly right against my ear. "Mandy... you're just like my name, wild, and warm, and all mine."
