Chapter 5

I clamped my hand over Owen's mouth and glared at him sharply. "Shut up." He smiled, pressed a kiss to my palm, then held nothing back, driving deep and claiming every part of me completely. I let out a sharp, breathless cry. "Sounds like it's raining out. The ground must be soaked through." Sweat dripped from his temple onto my ear. I could barely make out his words. I felt adrift, floating like loose waterweed in the downpour, completely swept away by sensation. He brushed his thumb along my lower lip, tracing gently at the corner of my mouth, and said, "Don't hold anything back. I want to hear you." This was a feeling I had never known before. Adrian would never have been this commanding. He knew I disliked forceful men. Growing up, I'd endured abuse from my stepfather, and I'd always been guarded and wary around men. Adrian pursued me for three years before I finally agreed to date him. He was always so respectful. From the first time we held hands to our first kiss, the moment I showed even the smallest hesitation, he would stop immediately. He gave me all the time I needed to feel safe and at ease. I used to worry he might cheat one day, because I was so quiet and reserved. But he stayed with me for seven whole years. Just when I'd finally learned to trust him completely and said yes to his proposal, I found out he'd been unfaithful. If it had been anyone else, I don't think I would have felt this sick. 'Why did it have to be my best friend?' When he finds out I slept with his closest friend, he'll finally understand just how disgusting this feels. I want him to experience exactly what I did, firsthand. "Someone's not listening to me." Owen's voice turned low and sharp, and then everything intensified, like a sudden, violent storm breaking. I was pulled right back under, lost in the rush in an instant. His kisses moved over every inch of me. This "Little Wolf Dog" was so relentless and intense it was almost overwhelming. I was so far gone I couldn't even form a sound. Just as he kept driving on, steady and unstopping, my phone suddenly started ringing. I shoved Owen away hard. "Wait... there's a call." When I saw Adrian's name on the screen, I frowned. I didn't want to answer. I planned to call him back later once we were done, and make up some excuse that I'd been in the shower. But before I could move, Owen reached over and answered it for me. And as I stared at him in shock, he drove deep, hard. I quickly clamped a hand over my mouth, stifling the sound I shouldn't have been making. I reached out to pinch Owen's waist, but it didn't slow him down at all. "Hello? Mandy, what's that noise? Hello? What are you doing? Why aren't you saying anything?"
