Jace moves forward. She knew Angela. She ran away because of this.
I shake my head. "You needed to tell me."
"I couldn't." I did not wish to lose you.
"I stopped caring about you when you chose silence over telling the truth."
He yells, "I chose to protect you!" "Do you think I wanted any of this?" "This guilt has been with me for years."
A beat of silence.
I look at him. "You say you love me. But love isn't anything without truth.
He tells her, "I love you." "And I'll show you."

A sharp sound breaks the silence all of a sudden.
Glass breaks next to my head. I scream and fall to the ground. I'm pulled behind the counter by Jace.
"Sniper," he says in a low voice as he looks out the window. "She found us."
