Smoke and Vows “Don’t tell me to calm down!” I yelled, pounding my hands at Dante’s chest. “She’s gone! They took her—they took Sofia!” Dante seized my wrists, but gently. His eyes were wild, his mouth taut with rage. “I’m not telling you to calm down,” he continued, voice rough. “I’m telling you we’re getting her back.” I was trembling. My heart beat so rapidly I thought I may pass out. “They were inside the chapel the whole time…” I muttered, my voice breaking. “She was supposed to be safe.
