Unpleasant reaction

Mikael resumed school the following week, he is not going to let some heartbreak get to his education. He needs to make his mama proud. The day was going well until he went to the cafeteria and saw a guy talking to Stacey. She seems to be enjoying his company. This made Mikael groan.

Mikael was staring at Stacey that he didn't even notice he was already at his table. The food spilled all over him and laughter erupts. This caught Stacey's attention as she looked at him.

Mikael's eyes connected with hers. Mikael would have sworn he saw something flash in her eyes - pain, hurt but it was quickly replaced by a cold stare. Stacey rolled her eyes at him - Mikael and turns back to the guy who was talking to her. Stacey laughs at something the guy said, she snaked her arms around the guy's neck, the guy in return put his arms around her waist.

Josh and Dave tapped the side of the chair to pull Mikael out of his thoughts, he sat down abruptly.

After eating for a while, Josh broke the silence that been hanging around them " Mikael you should try to take your eyes off her "

" Mike don't worry about her, a lot of girls are available. You can always date any girl you want, she's moved on as you can see" Dave added. He was tired of Mikael brooding all day - all the time. He can't say for sure why Stacey broke up with him because she refused to talk about it. Mikael on the other hand have been acting like a lost puppy - maybe he should start to go visit a doctor, it surely is getting out of hands. Love is something sweet but it's not the same for Mikael - it sour.

" She already moved on but I haven't " Mikael said this banging the table, this once again brought everyone's attention to their table.

Mikael stood up and left the cafeteria.

Stacey stared at his retreating back, she sighed. It was not her fault - it was his.

She reached out to Dave and Josh where they sat staring at the entrance Mikael just exited.

" Hi " she greeted.

" Hi " They - Josh and Dave responded in unison.

Stacey sat down and took a sandwich from Dave's plate, she took a bite " keep your friend in place, we are done so he should stop acting like a p***y" She said coldly.

Josh looked down.

" He is our friend, I never knew when you guys started dating. And now you are telling us to keep him in place after hurting him? " Dave asked.

" You shouldn't have hurt him if he were your friend. You moved on like nothing happened between you too. I wanna ask you a question Stacey.." Dave stood up.

" Do you think he's worth the heartbreak?" Dave asked. He turned around and left.

Stacey's eyes welled up with tears threatening to fall any second she blinks.

" Stacey go for who your heart beats for. Don't be deceived" Josh stood up and also left. Stacey was left alone dumbfounded, she was lost for words. The tears she has been holding for long roll down her cheek like it would blind her eyes if it were held just a bit more.

A strong arm snaked around her waist making her jump slightly.

"Easy girl, it's me Thomas"

" You scared me " Stacey quickly wiped away the tears. She faced him and gave him a warning smile which he returned.

Mikael POV

I don't know what made me snapped at my friends like that. I just feel anger - raw anger and disappointment wash over me. She never fought for us; she just moved on like nothing happened.

As the closing bell rang, I dashed out of the classroom before the Literature teacher turns back to the class to give us a 'it's the end of today's class's talk.

I was just informed now that my apartment is set. I need to move in to my new house.

My phone rang and I saw that it was my mother. I picked it up on the second ring.

" Mikael I'll be coming around next week " She blurted out as soon as I pick up the call.

I became nervous. I had no idea what my mother look like let alone my father. Would she be pleased with my appearance or not.

Appearance, huh?

Last time I checked I haven't get a decent haircut in months.

" Mom, I can't wait to see you"

My mom seems to notice my cracking voice " Mike what's wrong with you, are you sick? Let me get you a doctor now.." I cut her off telling her I'm okay.

" Son, just share with me whatever is bothering you whenever you want. I'll be here. Or do you need more money?" She said reassuringly.

"No, I'm not done spending the one you sent to me" I replied surprisingly. If my mom wants to give me another money it will most likely make me the richest student un school.

" Don't worry about spending all the money, i can give you all you want be it a billion dollars or more I don't care. You are my son, you should enjoy but also don't let it the money get into your head. I know your grandfather raised you to be a strong and responsible man.

I nodded " Yes mom, I'm okay for now, I'll let you know when I need more money" I try to keep my voice normal so as not to get my mom worried.

"Ok son, I'll disconnect the call now I need to attend to an urgent matter "

" Bye "

" Bye son " She disconnected the call.

Sighs!

I'm having mixed emotions right now, my girlfriend broke my heart; I'm heart broken, I'll be meeting my mom for the first time; I feel nervous and excited.

I just need someone to cry out my sorrow to, there's no one not even my friends. They keep telling me to take my eyes off her, I can't do that.

I boarded a taxi. As I was about to enter into my apartment I saw my landlord coming straight at me with a frown on his face - the frown I have always been scared of when he comes to us seeking for his money.

'' Mikael I'm throwing you off my property now and you will be paying my money. I don't give a fvck how you want to get the money" He snarled angrily at me.
