Chapter 48 TarynI parked in Jeff’s driveway and checked my phone again before punching the button for the garage door. Still no text back. If I didn’t reach him, I didn’t reach him. I’d put the groceries in the fridge and maybe tomorrow come back over and cook. Not wanting to make two trips, I grabbed my laptop bag and the two bags of groceries. The backyard gate rattled, and I turned. Why would it be open? I rocked backward, balancing my cargo while shoving the car door shut with my hip.
