Chapter 31 TarynI fought through the undercurrent of tension that flowed for the next couple of weeks. The image of Olivia’s distraught face hovered in my mind. Jeff and I vowed to get along with each other—and with Shannon. I focused on this thought quite deliberately as I pulled into Jeff’s driveway and opened the garage door, wondering if Shannon was still there. As soon as I opened the back door into the house, I heard the other woman’s voice and sighed. My appointment at the bridal salon was in just over thirty minutes. I didn’t have time for chatting up Olivia’s mother. “Hey, Miss Taryn.” Olivia jumped up and grabbed her bag. “My mom is coming with us.” I set my purse on the kitchen table and saw Jeff out of the corner of my eye.
