Kane Brothers' POV
The resort's main restaurant had never hosted a more tense dinner party. All seven Kane brothers sat around the large table with Aurelia and Cecil, their usual arrogance replaced with careful politeness that felt foreign on their tongues.
"More wine?" Maddox offered, holding up the bottle with uncharacteristic gentleness.
"I'm fine, thank you," Aurelia replied, her voice cautious but not hostile.
It was progress, Caesar thought, watching his brothers navigate this strange new territory of actually caring about someone's comfort.
Galen was cutting her steak into smaller pieces without being asked. Zane kept refilling her water glass. Even Jaxon was making an effort to keep his usual crude humor in check.
