“The voices are still there, daddy! I can hear you…” Ensley tosses in her sleep. Amoret stands at the foot of the bed, Calev and His father watch her go to Ensley. “Calev, you better be right about her!” She whispered, “If she is water fae and your mate, our world will finally have a great Queen.” She lays her hands-on Ensley’s heart and starts speaking in fae. Calev took a step forward stopping his mother, “What if she wakes up?” Amoret shakes her head. “I gave her some of my sleeping potions. She won’t wake up until morning.” Calev grabs her hand. “Do we really need to do this mother?” he bites off every word as he says it. Glaring at her. “She won’t feel anything I promise, why else do you think I gave her the potion? Kemper help me here?!” she looks at him with pleading eyes. “We need to know if she is the one. This will tell us.” Calev looks at his mother, “What if she dies?” Sighing she puts her hand on his “That’s a risk I’m willing to take, I have to know.” Calev turns to his father who has been quiet. His hands are in his pockets, he is watching Ensley intently. “She is a water fae. Look at the deep blue line on her spine.” Kemper points out. Both Calev and Amoret walk around the bed. “My guess is she was hidden, someone may be hunting her….” Kemper turns to his son, “We need to know if she is the Queen so please let you mother do the spell. I know its hard but if she is from the bloodline, she won’t feel any pain.” Calev turns away but lets his mother do the spell. A spell that all the women before Ensley fell victim too. Minutes seem to drag on for the scream that never comes. Calev looks over his shoulder to see Ensley is fast asleep unharmed. His mother and father stood there staring at Ensley with complete shock. It was Kemper who spoke first. “Well it looks like we have a Queen.” He had a wicked grin on his face. Kemper walked over to the door. “We can’t tell anyone about this. Not yet, there’s no telling who will try and kill her. Fae don’t like change, Calev. This is a big one. You will need to win everyone over and marry her soon.” Amoret brushed a strand of hair out of her face, “Welcome to the Unseelie Court Ensley, your life has just begun...” she whispers. “come, Calev. There is much to get done and such little time.” She grabbed his hand leading him out. He looked at Ensley one last time before shutting the door. Ensley laid there wondering what that was all about. She opened her eyes once she heard the door shut. At that moment she wonders what in the hell did she get herself into! The next morning: Ensley woke up to a soft knock at her door. She slowly sat up stretching. She stood up and went to the door. There stood a blue fairy, her grey eyes were dull, and her hair was piled on her head. She looked cold and mean. “Good morning, I’m Briella.” She spoke sharply, Ensley took a step back into her room. “I was sent to get you up….” “It’s ok, Briella!” Crimsyn said as she walked up the stairs. “I’ll get Ensley ready for the day.” Briella turned toward crimsyn. “As you wish Ma’am.” Her eyes never left Ensley as she slowly turned down the hall. “She is a little weird. For a moment there I thought she might rip my head off!” Ensley said as she followed Crimsyn to the walk-in closet. Crimsyn laughed as she went and grabbed clothes. “No, she is always a b***h. Daddy found her at the edge of the sea awhile back, he brought her here thinking she would be happy among her kind, but I’m not entirely convinced she is fae.” She explains as she hands Ensley the clothes she picked out. Ensley inspects the dress. It’s a soft pink cotton dress with white ballet flats. Ensley disappear into the bathroom to change. “What do you think she is?” Ensley ask before she can stop herself. “Well, she acts like a siren. Most of them are bitchy by nature, hey come out so I can do your hair and makeup!” Crimsyn shouted as Ensley opened the bathroom door. She stopped, looking at herself in the mirror. She smiles looking over at Crimsyn. “You look beautiful!” a voice said behind them. “Little bother! You’re not allowed to be in here! You know the rules! Plus, I haven’t got to tell her yet!” Ensley looks at them both “Tell me what!” Crimsyn looks like she is about to crawl out of her skin with excitement. “We are throwing you a party!” she is jumping up and down. “What?! No, don’t go thought all that trouble just for me.” Ensley declared as she backed away putting her hands up. “I’m no one special. Please don’t.” she plead Crimsyn smiled faded. “Why not?! You have no idea how special you really are. Stop being a drama queen and suck it up!” she spat out stomping her foot. Calev laughed, “Did you just stomp your foot like a child?” He walked over to Ensley kneeling in front of her. “Look, this party is to introduce you to the court. It will be fun I promise.” He said grabbing her hands. Ensley jumped at the heat that run down her hand and up her arm. Her head shot up and looked directly into Calev eyes. If he felt it, he didn’t say anything. “Plus, you get to dress up in a grown. You look amazing dressed up.” He smiled. Ensley smiled back at him and looked at Crimsyn. “Fine, I’ll go. But no pink dresses.” Crimsyn laughed clapping her hands together. “Deal! Now come, let’s go get breakfast and then we need to get ready!” Crimsyn grabbed her hand and took off down the hall. Once the reached the dinning room she let go and sat down. Amoret and Kemper were already eating. “I take it Alouette isn’t joining us?” Ensley stated as she took a seat across Calev. “No, she had to go into town to get a few things for tonight. I take it Crimsyn told you about the party?” Amoret said after she took a sip of her tea peering over her cup. She watched Ensley intently. “Ensley, eat.” Calev said handing her a plate of fresh fruit. She takes it, smelling the sweet berries. She takes a few pieces and hands the plate back to Calev. “Would you like some tea?” Briella askes, Ensley nearly jumped out of her seat. “Yes, please.” Ensley watches her. Something isn’t right, her gut is telling her to keep this fae at arm’s length. Briella looks up at Ensley smiling, “There, would you like cream or sugar, Miss?” Ensley shakes her head. “Ensley, how did you sleep?” Amoret inquired. Ensley looked up, “I slept ok, until 3 people came into my room and did a spell.” Calev spit out his coffee, looking at her. As soon as she said the words, she wanted to take them back. She stared back at everyone. “How? I gave you a sleeping potion!” Amoret exclaimed. “I don’t know. That stuff never worked on me. Well medicine never did. I guess its like that as well.” She clarified. She quickly looked down at her plate. She could still feel their eyes on her. “Ensley, did you know that there is a blue tint to you skin, as well as a deep blue line down your spine?” Kemper inquired. Ensley looks up at him puzzled. “No, I heard you say something about its last night, about me being a water fae. Everything has been hushed hush since I got here. Honestly, I want to ask questions, but I feel they would be avoided.” “No, we just have to explain a lot to you. I don’t know if your ready for that just yet.” Kemper explained. He stared at her watching for her reaction. Ensley took a deep breath. “Tell me everything I need to know.” Kemper nodded. “Very well, but I’m warning you that once I tell you, you won’t be safe anymore. There are other fae that will try to take you, you are very rare. I honestly don’t know how you ended up on the other side.” Kemper paused “Ensley, you are a water fae. I’m sure of it. Your tint alone tells me that and the fact that no spell works on you, if you go near water you probably feel at home. Am I wrong?” Ensley gawked at him. “No, but that still doesn’t explain why I’m here. What do you want from me?” “Well to put it simple, you are the last water fae which makes you rare. We would like to have a Queen fit to rule. We haven’t had a great Queen since before the war. Most of the water fae were killed or ran away. We want you to marry Calev.” Ensley sat there, the look on her face was pure shock. Now she’s heard it all. These people are nuts. She stood up contemplating on what to do, where can she go? Home wasn’t an option anymore. “Ensley, please sit down. I know this is a lot to take in. I know that it seems unbelievable. Yet you know its true.” Calev tried to reason with her. “Oh, whatever! Everyone knows fae are assholes. They will say whatever they want to get who and what they want. I just knew thought I would be in the middle!” Ensley screamed, her face no longer showed shock. She turned to run, she had to get out of there and far away from these crazy people. She pushed her chair out of the way but before she could take another step her world went dark again. Fucking fairies!
