Ensley could feel the chains against her skin as she tried to stand up again. She had been trying to figure out a way to escape most of the night and now she was fighting sleep. Yet she kept on trying. Each time the chains grew heavier, it was like they were weighing her down with every step she tried to take. “You’re quite right. They are enchanted to get heavier each time you try to move.” A deep voice said. Ensley looked around. Her eyes widen at who she saw. “I should’ve known it was you.” She spat out. “You’re the only one who was always gone. Does Amoret know that you’re behind this? What about your daughters?” She looked at Kemper with pure hate. Kemper laughed at her. “No one’s suspects anything. But why would they? The king?” He was laughing at her still. “What about Alouette? She hasn’t been around for a while.” Ensley questioned him. She needed to know what and who she was up against. Kemper looked at her like she had lost her mind. “Who?” He asked raising his eyebrows, he was laughing at her. “Don’t mock me! You damn well know who! Your daughter.” She said turning red. “Oh, this is great! The great water fae is losing her mind. I hate to break it to you but only Crimsyn and Calev are mine. I have no idea who are you talking about.” He was dancing around like a fool. Ensley stared at him wondering what he was talking about. She looked down at the ground. “Kemper don’t look so smug!” she heard behind. Ensley knew that voice. She tried to turn in the chair, but she couldn’t with the chains. All Ensley could do was listen to the click of her heels as she was face to face with both her captors. Ensley looked at Alouette in confusion. She knew it was her, yet Ensley saw Briella. “Awe you look confused.” Alouette laughed. “Let me explain. I’m both Alouette and Briella. But you can call me Briella. I hated playing that part anyways. I thought she would help me get closer to you, obviously hitting you over the head with a vase wasn’t a smart thing to do. Sorry not sorry about that! That’s when I was forced to leave, and I tried to come back as Alouette, but the sirens stopped me. You have been nothing but a pain in my ass since you showed up. Now there is no one here to stop me from killing you.” The look in her eyes told Ensley that she would do anything to get rid of her. Ensley was starting to wonder if this is who she was being protected from. Ensley watched Briella as she walked over to the walk and leaned against it. Kemper stood there looking out the only window in the room. “You should just let me kill her now,” Briella said while looking at her nails. “She is nothing to us now.” Kemper shook his head. “No, we still need her. If we can convince her to join us. Just think of everything, we can do with a water fae on our side.” He was staring at Ensley now. His eyes wild. Ensley knew at that moment if she didn’t join them, she would die. “So, Ensley, what’s it to be? Join us and live or join them and die?” He asked. Ensley looked at the ground she already knew her answer. Now she just had to await her fate… Meanwhile…. Calev was talking to the Mermaids and Sirens for the hundredth time in 2 days. He was sure one of them would know something about Ensley or where she was taken. Yet nothing had changed. The mermaids knew nothing. But his gut told him that the sirens did. He walked along the sea. He knew who he was looking for. Today he would find her even if it took all day. He kept walking until he found the cove where he hoped she would be. Calev saw most of the mermaids from the party but still, no silver tipped siren. He knew that her hair was one of a kind. So was the type of siren she was. She was the only siren that wouldn’t kill unless she had to. Because of that, she knew more about the fae and sea life than anyone. Everyone went to her about their issues. He walked aimlessly for a few hours, going over every possible scenario in his head. He was about to give up when he heard her singing. Ingemar was sitting at the edge of the sea. Her tail was slightly in the water while she braided her light blue hair. Calev was always amazed by her. Ingemar knew he was coming she just never knew when. “What can I do for you young king?” she asked without turning to see if it was him. “Ingemar, I need help finding the future Queen. Yet I’m sure you knew that already.” He was next to her now. She turned her head ever so slightly to see him. Smiling she bared her pointed teeth. “Why come to me?” She went back to her hair. “She is water fae. One of you.” He said. “She isn’t one of us. She is nothing. She hasn’t even tried to be one of us. You all kept her hidden from us and now she is helpless. Maybe you should just let her die.” Calev looked at her in shock. He knew she was mad at him for lying but now wasn’t the time. He knew he needed to suck it up. “Ingemar, please I need your help. I know I should have told you, but would it have mattered? They still would have taken her.” Ingemar looked at him. She smiled at him. “No, it wouldn’t have mattered. I wonder young Prince if you know who took her?” She turned back to him and slowly went into the water. He knew she was done talking to him. He shook his head and started walking. “You know, once you realize who is behind this you will kill them. I just hope when the time comes you won’t hesitate.” she said as she joined him. He smiled. Ingemar won’t turn human for anyone yet she did for this. He knew he went to the right person. Their walk back was quick and quiet. He wanted to ask her questions, but he didn’t. they reached the courtyard they were met with many mermaids and sirens in human form. “You all don’t have to do this.” He said. One of the mermaids spoke first. “We will no fight because there are very few of us left but we will help keep order and take care of the others. Just bring her back in one piece. If she is who you say and from what we saw, we don’t doubt it. But we can’t lose her. The would end us all.” She said before she turned and walked away the others followed her. Calev was about to ask her what she meant when he saw his father walking towards him. “Calev, have you heard anything?” Kemper asked. Calev shook his head. “No, not yet. What are you doing here father?” Kemper looked at him in confusion “I’m here to help.” Calev stared at him then he nodded. He knew something was right, but he couldn’t think about that now. He had to find Ensley. He thought back to when they first met. He knew that day she was his. The way her eyes lit up when they spoke. He felt so lost without her. His thoughts went wild with everything that could be happening to Ensley. “Earth to Calev…” He turned to Ingemar. “Are you ok?” she asked. He didn’t know how to answer her. For the first time, the Fae Prince was lost…
