Chapter 12

Even though he told me to rest, I stayed up trying to open the book. I had no luck so I started reading the other books. The potions book was interesting, and has given me ideas about new medicine. Then I read the spells book, but haven't finished it yet.

It has a lot of spells and also says they stopped using potions, and have made spells that con do it instead. The spells were cool and help you control elements, but every witch can only use one element, strong ones can use two. I wanna try some but, I don't have anywhere safe to try them.

I passed out while reading and woke up to Victor knocking on my door.

" Yea, yea, who is it. " I say groggy

" Sorry to wake you, can I come in. "

" Yea. "

He opens the door. " I just wanted to say goodbye. I'm taking Silvia home soon. "

" Awe, you're leaving. "

" Yea, i'll be sending someone else to get the rest of the meds. "

" Okay, when will you be back. "

" I don't know, I decided to be Silvia's watcher. "

" You are. " I say excited.

" Yea. " He smiles. " She convinced me, and so did you. So I wont be around for awhile. "

" I'm happy for you. " I smile

" Thanks. I'm gonna miss you. "

I sit up and he comes over and hugs me.

" I'm gonna miss you too Victor. "

" I'll make sure to call okay. "

I smile. " Okay. "

" You can go back to bed, or reading. "

" Oh. " I chuckle slightly. " I've read the potions one, but I fell asleep during the spells. "

" Yea, I heard spells are boring. I only ever met one witch and that was like 200 years ago. "

" Really. Would you maybe know how to open this one. "

I show him the book of curses.

He shrugs his shoulders. " Sometimes saying a certain word or blood opens it, just study the book. Sometimes books have words written on the covers. Certain things will make words appear, but it's only really old books. "

" Okay. " I look at the book.

He ruffles my hair.

" Seriously, you too. " I say as I move his hand.

" Yep. " He chuckles. " I gotta finish getting ready. "

" Okay, I'll miss you. "

" I'll miss you too. "

He leaves my room and closes my door. I try and take a closer look at the book. I don't see any type of writing. He said that blood might open it. I look in my nightstand and grab my dagger. I turn the book on it's side and cut my hand, and let blood drip on the pages.

Nothing happens so I bleed on the cover, and nothing happens.

" Really. " I yell out loud.

I throw the book to the end of my bed. " Stupid book. "

I stare at the book and notice something. I crawl to the book and notice me blood, is turning into writing.

" What the. " I say out loud.

I grab the book and read it out loud. " Petectum Immorori. "

The book flips open. I immediately start reading. I don't know how long I read for, but I couldn't stop reading. I had to stop because my eyes started to burn, and I decided to get some fresh air. I brought the spell book and walked into the woods, and walked as far as thought would be safe.

I sat down by a tree and read.

Elements introduction.

Witches and warlocks can use only one of the four elements, fire, water, shadow, and life. A simple test can be done to show which element you can control. Fine an item from each element ( if you look at the charts in the next page, you'll find examples. ) and follow the instructions on the next page.

Witches and warlocks can only use one out of the four element, but in some cases some can use two. In any case you'll have to take special precautions,because your powers can become unstable. If you are able, get a more experienced witch or warlock to help.

The rest of the page just has symbols and writing I don't understand, so I go to the next page.

Elements, finding yours

By following the chart below grab an item from each element, and put them in a circle with their symbol under the item. Make sure the circle is big enough that you can stand in the middle. Stand in the middle of the circle and wait for your element to show itself. The symbol underneath the item will light up. This will have to be done during a new moon, at the darkest hour.

When you find your element follow the lessons in this book, or get any of the elements editions. Would be best to go to a special training ground, or somewhere away from other witches and warlocks. Follow the instructions in this book to help you achieve your element is a safe manner.

I look at the bottom of the page, and look at the diagrams and charts. Three out of the four elements I can get, I just need to get shadow. I have to wait a few days till the new moon, then I'll try to find my element. I'll read the nature section, maybe it can help. I flip through the pages and start reading the nature section.

Nature spells introductions

Nature spells are all the spells that don't rely on the elements. These spells rely on your connection with the earth. The stronger your connection with the earth the stronger your power. To measure your connection meditate in a Pond Of Ancestry. Most covens are either formed around or close to one of these ponds. If you are in a coven that is not near one, there are ways to find one.

If you do find one, make sure it is not contaminated. When a Pond Of Ancestry is contaminated, it will turn into a Pond Of The Forsaken. ( Can be used to find your element as well. ) Only those in the highest rank of shadow and life can purify it.

I close the book. So I wont be able to use any spells until I find a Pond Of Ancestry or Forsaken. I look up at the sky and see that it's starting to get dark. I get up and head home.
