Chapter Thirty-Five Taz awoke with a start. It took her a moment to realize she was in her car, not her apartment. And she had been dreaming. Taz struggled to raise the dream up from the depths. Something– something– a few fragments floated to the surface: She was lifting, using her legs, pumping and turning, but her mind refused to yield much more. She finally gave it up and dug her phone outta her pocket. “What are you doing, Masser?” “Well I was enjoying my breakfast. But that’s all over.” “I got something you should see. Where are you?” “Shoney’s, the one out on the highway.” “Did you check your computer records for Allen Kozak and his father, Benjamin?” “Nada, Taz. I came up empty. If everything you’ve been telling me is correct, someone is pulling strings at the State office.”
