Chapter 6: Grandma Lydia

1745 Words
As I walked with young Tim and his twin sister Jen along the training grounds back of the mansion, I had a lot on my mind. "What's the matter Harry?" Jen asked curiously. With her innocent expression, she meets my gaze with her beautiful brown eyes. Tim scoffs then says, "can't you tell you dummy?" "He's worried about Uncle Wyatt and the man that attacked him." I gave Tim a look but he was right. I've known Wyatt since we were boys and yet, I haven't known anyone that powerful enough to come even close to him. Wyatt is the strongest Alpha that has ever existed. However, after he became king he became even more powerful. After Amas, no one really challenged him. Therefore, I'm curious who would attack him. He comes home from the hospital today. And I know I should let him rest. But as his delta, I have to see what's going on. I walk the twins back inside. They quickly see their mom and run over to her and give her a big hug. "Hi, my precious ones," Brianna smiled. She is Wyatt's younger sister. She has black hair like her father's and grey eyes like her mother's. Her skin is a mixture of golden and copper and is as smooth as anyone has ever seen. She's mated to the fairy king. "Where did you guys run off to?" she asked. "I just took them for a walk on the training grounds," I replied. "They actually showed me their wings today." Brianna smiled. "That's great!" "You guys didn't tell me you had gotten your wings already." "We're going to surprise you and daddy later for dinner," Jen laughed. "Ooooh ok," Brianna said. "Well guess what? Natalia and Brandon are here. And so are Zoey, Brady and Taya." "They're upstairs in the nursey room." "Why don't you guys join them while I talk to Harry? Okay?" The children smiled and headed upstairs. She motioned me to the couch in the living room. She takes off her red jacket and lies it next to her. We both got comfortable but I could tell she was nervous about being here. "Has Wyatt come home yet?" Brianna asked. "Not yet," I answered. "He should be here by 10:30." Brianna sighed heavily. "And do we know who this shadow king is?" "Wyatt told me that he'd explain everything when he got home," I replied. "This is so weird," Brianna said. "Wyatt has been the king for about a year now and no one has challenged him since Amas." "So what the hell is going on?" she asked. I shrugged my shoulders. Whatever is going on we can't let our guard down for a second. We both heard the front door open and we got up and saw Wyatt come in with Joey and his parents. Brianna quickly ran over to her brother and hugged him tightly. He embraced her back. And she looked him over when they broke away. "Are you OK?" she asked. "I'll be fine." Wyatt answered softly. I nod to him as he looks at me. And I bow my head to his parents. "You don't have to bow to them," Wyatt grumbled. His mother tried to reach for him but he moved away. His father frowned a bit at him and Wyatt straightened up. "I guess we'll figure out what happened between them later," Alistair, my wolf says. There is an obvious tension between Wyatt and his parents, as evidenced by his reluctance to let his mother touch him and his father's disapproving expression. It seems that something significant has happened between them, and it remains to be seen how they will address and resolve their issues. Wyatt ushered us upstairs to his office. He walked slowly as the doctor suggested. And sat in his comfy brown leather chair. The rest of us sat on two couches. "So what happened?" I asked bluntly. I really didn't feel like beating around the bush. I don't want to take any chances if this Shadow King gets close to Wyatt again. As his delta, I need to know exactly what happened. I need to know if he has any weaknesses or vulnerabilities I should be aware of. I need to know if he is safe. Wyatt sighed heavily. And his mother tries to come over to comfort him but he gives her a warning growl. His father growled at him but Wyatt rolled his eyes. "Apparently, the shadow king is some sort of demon that was obsessed with grandma and he wanted to kill me to get to her." "The shadow king's obsession with the children's grandmother stemmed from a long-standing grudge or unresolved conflict between the two, leading him to believe that harming Wyatt would be the ultimate way to exact revenge or exert control over her." The former Alpha king Adam explained. "Which grandmother though?" Brianna asked. "Lydia." Wyatt answered. Makes sense. I thought. Not to say that Mr. Adam's mother isn't stunning. However, she is more serious and stern. Lydia, Mrs. Maria's mother, is a different story. She's vibrant and fun. And she also has white hair and silver eyes like Wyatt. And as long as we know her, we had never seen her wolf! We know she has one but we have never seen her. There could be various reasons why Lydia has never shown her wolf. It's possible that she prefers to keep her wolf hidden for personal reasons or to maintain a sense of mystery. Alternatively, Lydia might have chosen not to shift in order to protect her loved ones from any potential danger or to avoid drawing attention to herself within the supernatural community. "Maybe we should call her down here," Brianna suggested. "Already done." Wyatt said. "Mrs. Wanda and I have already talked to Grandma and she's on her way." I raised an eyebrow. "Who's Wanda?" I asked. "She's the dream mage who tried to protect me from being marked by the shadow king but my mother had other ideas and now we got this mess." Wyatt grumbled. Brianna looked at her mother in shock as Mrs. Maria started whining a bit. "What did you do mother?" Brianna asked. "I did what I knew best," Maria replied. "You were disobeying." A voice boomed. A ravelous woman with silver hair Wyatt and silver eyes wore a dare I must say a sexy black lace top with leather pants. She also wore leather boots to go with it. Her hair swayed as she walked into the office. I attempted to bow my head but she told me there was no need. Mrs. Lydia was going to sit next to me and Brianna, but Wyatt gave her his seat instead. "My sweet boy," Mrs. Lydia smiled. Then she looked over at Maria. "You Maria have always been like your grandma Lilliana. Always taking matters into your own hands." Mrs. Maria hangs her head in shame. Mr. Adam places his hand on her shoulder. "It's alright," he said. "It's just part of who you are." He smiled warmly at her and she gave him a grateful look. "Yes but it gets her into trouble," Lydia interrupted. "Well what about you?" Mr. Adam snapped. "This is your lover who's after my son!" "He has a point," Mrs. Maira agreed. "If I may," I began, "we can't sit here and argue now. We have to think of a game plan to stop the shadow king." Lydia nodded and cleared her throat. "His name is Cole Johnson. He's a half breed. He is a wizard and a mage but he practices the dark arts." "I met him before I met Charlie back in the good old days." In that last comment, you can see her smile.Lydia loves Charlie no matter what. He's been sick lately so he doesn't move around as much. However, I'm assuming that when Mr. Charlie came into the picture, Cole, the shadow king, didn't like that. "When I broke up with Cole, I was already pregnant with Johnny at the time," Lydia said. Brianna raised an eyebrow in disbelief. "Grandma, I can't believe you." She teased. Mrs. Lydia shrugs. "We have a strong mate bond. And Charlie was really alluring." "He has that swag about him," Wyatt joked. And we all giggled a bit. "I assume he didn't take it well and wanted revenge," I said. Mrs. Lydia's face soured at my statement and she nodded her head. "He thought Johnny was his, but he wasn't, and he didn't like that." She sighed heavily. I could tell from the look on her face she didn't want to continue but she did anyway. "When he caught wind of Rodney, Johnny's first born, I thought he was going to do something rash. So I took precautions to keep him safe. But I didn't see it coming with Wyatt." Mrs. Lydia said. "Why was he after the boys in the first place?" I asked. "Since he couldn't get to me, the best chance was with my grandchildren. But there's something special about Wyatt that I need to talk to him about." Mrs. Lydia looks over at Wyatt. His face is grim with confusion and worry. Mrs. Lydia smiles and says, "Don't worry honey." "It won't harm you." "But that crystal you have in your pocket will." Everyone turns their attention to Wyatt's left pocket where he pulls out a mysterious red gem. Mrs. Lydia steps forward and takes the gem from Wyatt's hand. "It's a powerful artifact," she says. "It needs to be handled with caution." She turns to the others and says, "I'm sure Wanda explained to you what this is." Wyatt nods. "Good," Mrs. Lydia said. "So when our guests arrive I'll explain more." "Guests?" I asked. "Yes," Mrs. Lydia answered. "Two old friends are sending their granddaughters over to solve this mess with Morgana." "Morgana as in King Arthur Morgana?" I asked. Mrs. Lydia nodded. "What?" Brianna cried. "That's only a story!" "A myth!" I nodded in agreement with Brianna. Back in school we learned about King Arthur but everyone including humans knew it was just a story! Mrs. Lydia raises her hand to quiet us down. "As we all know legends and myths are kept secret from humans so they won't be foolish to discover the truth." "But this one is real and we can't ignore the fact that Morgana the XIV is here to plunder the world into darkness."
