Rogues

I led on the ground unable to move, pain coursing throughout my body, I'm pretty sure I have a few broken ribs and I'm certain my nose is broken. This was the worst punishment I have had to date, I'm not sure what I did to deserve a beating like this. I knew I had spoken to Dean with a slight attitude, but not enough to be treated like somebody's personal punchbag. I slowly rolled on to my side looking to see if anyone was still around, thankfully I was alone. I saw the knife on the ground next to me. "Don't" Rylie warned. I reached over and picked the knife up, "Please Gwen, don't do this" I ran my finger over the blade, cutting my finger slightly, the knife was sharp. "Gwen you don't need to do this, there must be another way." Rylie was begging. "There is no other way Rylie I'm sorry. If I want all of this to stop, I'll have to stop it myself " I told her. Holding the knife in my left hand, I gently pierced a small hole just bellow the inside of my elbow. It stung, but my body was numb to the pain. I followed down the length of my arm with the knife until I was down to my wrist and my blood was flowing freely on the ground. The feeling of instant relief came over me. I put the knife in my other hand and repeated the slice down my other arm. I could feel the blood warming my skin as it left my body. "Gwen, what have you done" Rylie wept. I didn't answer, I just waited for it all to be over, for the darkness and silence to engulf me. I closed my eye's, willing the end to come. "What the f**k have you done now?!" Dean's voice broke the peace I was feeling. Maybe he felt bad seeing me like this, I hoped he did. "You've got blood all over my knife you stupid b***h. Do you actually want to die that badly?" He questioned, hatred still in his voice. "Yes Dean" I whispered, "I really do. I want to be out of this Hell you put me in" Dean just laughed, "Fine if that's what you want." He picked me up and threw me over his shoulder. He walked for a few minutes until we were at his truck, then he threw me into the back of the truck before getting in and driving off. I kept slipping in and out of consciousness as Dean drove at speed along the road, Rylie was still crying in my head, telling me to stay awake but I had no strength left in me, I wanted to sleep. We came to an abrupt stop and Dean came around the back of his truck and dragged me out. Throwing me over his shoulder again, he started walking. I looked around me briefly, I could see we were at the border on the other side of the territory. Dean stopped, "Your wish is my command" he growled as he dropped me onto the tarmac and walked away. As he got back to his truck he shouted to me, "I hope the rogues enjoy their dinner tonight." then he drove off and left me. "Gwen please stay awake, I can try to heal you" Rylie whimpered, "I know I shouldn't be able to heal you until after your your first shift, but I need to try." I shook my head slowly, "just let me go Rylie, please" Then I blacked out. When I managed to open my eyes again, everything was dark. I guessed that I was back in the same place as before, the blackness, no moon goddess and this time no parents. Maybe this is where you go if you kill yourself, like some kind of purgatory. I didn't care though, I was just happy to be away from Dean and his friends. No more torture, no more r**e, no more beatings. Being away from all of that made this place feel like heaven to me. I led there with no intention of moving for a while, I was comfortable and it was quiet here. I didn't need to move, nobody could order me to move ever again. I think I must have fallen asleep or zoned out for a while, as I was suddenly woke up by a bright light just in front of me. Maybe I would get to pass over into heaven or wherever it is that my kind end up. I stared into the light and saw a beautiful woman standing in front of me. Her blonde hair was almost white, her green eyes were like emeralds and somewhat familiar, she had the brightest smile I had ever seen. "Are you the moon goddess?" I asked The woman laughed. It was a sweet laugh, soft like tiny bells. "No sugar, I'm not the moon goddess, I'm Jaime-Lou" I was confused, if she's wasn't the moon goddess then who was she? "Are you some kind of angel then? You look like an angel." Jaime-Lou laughed again, "No sweet, I'm just Jaime-Lou, no goddess, no angel, just your average run of the mill rogue." "Rogue?!" I shouted, jumping up trying to get away from her. I didn't get far, the pain in my ribs was still too bad for me to move properly. "Woah, slow down sugar, you're still healing." Jaime-Lou said "I found you bleeding out half dead, so I brought you home to help you, to fix you up." I couldn't help the sarcastic laugh that escaped me, "so what, you found me, brought me here so you can heal me, only to kill me yourself? I knew that rogues were blood thirsty monsters, but you really take the piss!" I saw something flash in Jaime-Lous' eyes, it almost looked like my words had hurt her, but I'm pretty sure that rogues don't have any feelings other than hate. She turned her back to me and I heard her sniff, was she crying? "Jaime-Lou?" She turned back towards me slowly, her head hanging low, she really was crying. "I don't want to kill you" She sobbed, " I hate being compared to those ruthless bastards. Yes I'm a rogue, my family and our little community are all rogues, but we are not savages!" she lifted her head and looked at me. "Me and my two brothers have been looking out for you for a few years now, we've cried over you, watching you being beaten broke our hearts as we weren't allowed to step in and help you, we were only allowed to watch you and comfort you. We wanted to kill your brother for what he had done to you so many times, but we were forbidden. Now I try to help you and you throw it all in my face." The tears were pouring down her face. Now I felt bad for insulting her, she had saved me and I had acted like a brat. "Jaime-Lou, I'm so sorry, I didn't know. All I've ever learned about rogues is that they are bad. Rogues killed my parents. Wait, did you say you and your brothers had been looking out for me and comforting me?" I asked as realisation struck me. She nodded, "You're the wolves that stay by me after I've been hurt or abandoned?" She nodded again, sniffing a little more. "Who told you to watch me?" My head was full of questions that I needed to be answered. She sat on the bed that I must have been on and patted the mattress next to her, gesturing me to sit. I tried to relax a bit, and sat down by her, leaving space between us until I knew I could trust her. "The elder of our our community is a great she-wolf named Tungi. Legend says that she is as old as the moon goddess and they have always been close friends. Every full moon Tungi goes out by herself and talks with the goddess. One morning a few years ago she called for me and my brothers and instructed us to find you and watch you. We had to report to her everyday and tell her everything that had happened to you daily. At first we watched you from a distance, but then as your punishments got worse we knew you needed comfort. We would wait until you were completely alone , then we would come to you. I always laid with you while my brothers stood guard. when I was next to you, your body and your wolf would relax slightly. We were told not to interfere, that you had to go through these terrible ordeals to make you strong. I'm sorry Gwen, we wanted to help you and take you away from everything, but we were forbidden." She let at a breath, indicating that she had finished talking. I didn't know what to say, I just sat there in a stunned silence for a few minutes. Finally I asked, "But why was Tungi told I need to be watched? Why was I left there alone for so long? What did I do to deserve the abuse? How could it have made me strong? I am so much weaker because of it. None of this makes any sense." Jaime-Lou put her hand over mine, "Don't fret sugar, you are to meet with Tungi when you have healed more. She will be able to tell you much more than I can. Tonight you must rest so that you can start healing, and in the morning you can come to breakfast with me and my two goofball brothers, they're dying to get to know you."
