Happy birthday to me

I spent the rest of the day wandering around trying to find something to do, there was no laundry to be done and nobody else would let me help with their jobs as it was my birthday and they wanted me to relax. I was so bored. I wanted to find Robbie and explain to him about what happened this morning, but he was either off doing something or avoiding me. I really wanted to talk to him before tonight, I broke a promise to him and I needed to make it right. finding nothing to do inside, I decided to go and explore outside a bit more. I hadn't gone far from the garden, well apart from in wolf form this morning. I wanted to see what was around, and maybe find Robbie while I was at it. I walked through the gate leading outside the property and walked for a little while. It was very green around. the trees weren't clustered together like at my old pack, they were more spread out, and there was lots of wild shrubs and wild flowers everywhere. it really was peaceful out here in the middle of wherever I was. I walked a bit further and found a road, it wasn't a familiar road, I literally had no idea where u was geographically. I walked down the road to see if I recognised anything, but nothing was familiar at all. I heard a car in the distance, moving in my direction, I didn't know anyone around here, so it didn't bother me, I just walked on the grass verge to avoid being roadkill. I saw a gorgeous group of flowers and went over to pick some, they would be perfect to give to Sarah, she had helped me so much. I would like to take some for Tungi too, but to be honest, she scares me too much. I knelt on the ground picking a bunch of the red and yellow flowers when I heard the car close by, I carried on with the flowers until I heard the car slam it's breaks on behind me. I stood up and looked around towards the car. My heart stopped. It was Darren, Dean's guard friend. I knew that he recognised me by the smug grin on his face. I stepped out the car and walked up to me, I was too scared to run. He Brough his hand up and stroked the side if my face, "Well, well. Gwen, we thought you were dead. Dean told us you had killed yourself. Guess you didn't do that right or you wouldn't be stood here would you" His voice made my skin crawl. He ran his hand up and down my arm, "You know, I wouldn't have to tell Dean that I saw you, if you make if worth my while." I flinched backwards, trying to distance myself from him. " Now princess, is that how you're going to be, I always had a soft spot for you, besides if you try to run it'll be easy to catch you, and I really enjoy the chase, it excites me you know?" What do I do, fight or flight? either way he'll probably come out on top, my fear will slow down my reactions. I took a couple of steps backwards, he growled at me in warning. I knew my way back to everyone else, but I wasn't sure if I would be able to make it there before he caught me. "You won't in human form" Rylie said, I knew what she meant. I may be able to out run him in wolf form.

I took a couple more steps backwards, "I'm pretty sure you don't want to do that princess " Darren growled, "Oh, but I do" I retorted turning on my heal and running. I closed my eye's and pictured Rylie, I heard my clothes rip then I was running on all fours back towards my new home. I heard a large, angry growl behind me, and looked back to see Darren shift into a very large brown wolf and start chasing after me. "Faster Rylie, we need to go faster" I panicked, Rylie started running really fast, knowing our lives depended on it. Darren's wolf was fast, but not as fast as Rylie. we weaved in and out of trees and bushes until I saw people ahead of us. Rylie let out a howl as we got closer, hoping they would hear. Darren's wolf was closing in on us. I saw four wolves come bounding towards us growling and snarling as they ran towards Darren's wolf. I kept running until I was safe in the garden, and collapsed panting on the ground.

A little while later the four wolves returned and shifted back. Gabe, Robbie, a man called Curtis and a young boy who I think was called Ryan, all stood in front of me completely naked, I didn't know where to look and I was so glad I was still in my Wolf form. Sarah came running with shorts for the guys and shorts an t-shirt for me. Thankfully they all turned around so I could shift and get dressed quickly. "Who the hell was that?" Gabe looked angry. I looked at the ground, feeling ashamed that all of this trouble was caused by me. "He was one of Dean's friends, he saw me when I was out walking." I said apologetically. Curtis and Ryan walked off, probably angry with me, but Gabe and Robbie stayed. Robbie pulled me into a tight hug, "I was so worried about you" he whispered. We stood hugging for a few minutes before Gabe cleared his throat and we parted, slightly embarrassed. "So do you want to tell me why you walked off by yourself?" Gabe asked sternly. "I just went for a walk, I didn't know I wasn't allowed out on my own" I snapped, Gabe growled at me, "Don't start trying to be all Alpha male on me Gabe, I left all that s**t behind, and I will not take any of that s**t anymore!" I growled back. Gabe had the decency to look sorry for his attitude. "sorry" he muttered. I walked over to the weeping willow, went under the leaves and sat down, Gabe and Robbie followed me. "Ha, cool hideout" Robbie laughed, sitting down, Gabe stayed standing, hovering by the outer part of the tree.

"I know you won't like this, but I need you to promise that you won't go off by yourself anymore" Gabe started, "We aren't far enough away from your old pack for you to be out, it's not safe." I nodded reluctantly, "but I won't be caged up, I need to go out. I was caged up for too long." In the end we decided that I could go out, but not in the direction of the road, and if I was going to be out for a while I had to have someone with me. Gabe left, leaving me and Robbie in the tree. "You know it's only because he worries don't you?" Robbie asked, "I know he worries, but I don't understand why he worries that much about me. he hardly knows me" I shrugged. Robbie dropped his head, a look of sadness washed over his face. "Gabe felt drawn to you when we used to watch you. He thought you may be his mate, but when it turned out that you weren't, he still felt a strange pull to you. Nobody can understand why, but he feels like he has some sort of claim over you. Nobody else can get a look in at you now in fear of Gabe's temper." " A claim over me!" I yelled, "What like I'm some kind of possession? I belong to no one but myself. I'm done with being treated like I belong to everyone!" I was really enraged at Robbie's words. "Woah, calm down" Robbie tried, "It just means that he feels really protective of you, it's not like he's declaring his undying love for you or anything." I glared at Robbie, nothing would stop my anger right now. "How would you feel if I said I felt a claim on you Robbie? If I made you feel like you belonged to me?" I saw him blush and he started to look uncomfortable. "Yeah, I get what you mean don't worry." He mumbled. We both got up, I needed to be alone in my room and cool off a bit. "But." Robbie said, "But what Robbie? are you going to make an excuse for him." I snapped, Robbie started walking away from me, "No, I was only going to say that if you felt a claim on me, I would be ok with that." He ran off inside the house, leaving me slightly gobsmacked. Now I felt bad for yelling at him. Great I've manage to piss Robbie off twice today already. I didn't feel like that towards him, he felt like a brother to me. Why does my life always have to be so damn complicated? I stomped off to my room, some birthday this had been. My first acknowledged birthday in years, and it was a disaster. I knew I would have to apologise to Robbie, but now wasn't the time, we both needed our own space. I needed to talk to Gabe as well and find out why he is so protective of me, that was one conversation I wasn't looking forward to.
