We spent the rest of the morning looking around the gardens and abandoned parts of the building, and talking to some of the other people here. From what I've learned so far, they all appear to be really nice and like a proper family. I know that they have all been eager to meet me since they heard about me a few years ago. Some of them knew my parents and remembered me and Dean from when we were young. Some were even from my pack, but had chose to leave for various reasons. The only thing that was causing me a problem at the moment was the fact that I didn't know how or why they had heard of me or had been waiting for me. Whenever I asked somebody I got the same answer, "Tungi will talk to you when the time is right." I was getting frustrated by the same answer.
We went to get some lunch and sat with Jaime-Lou's brothers while we ate. "How do you like it?" Robbie asked as soon as we sat down. I thought for a second, how did I like it? "Honestly, at the moment I feel very overwhelmed by it all, but I'm really enjoying being around people, and being in a comfortable space. Oh, and the food is amazing." I laughed, Robbie laughed too, "The food really is good" he agreed. We sat and chatted for a little while, Gabe still didn't speak to me, but he acknowledged when I was talking. "So Robbie, how old are you?" I asked, "I'm 16" he answered happily "So you've met your wolf?" I whispered like it was some big secret. "Yep, me and Ace are great friends. Ace isn't the biggest of wolves, but he's mine and I think he's awesome. what about you, have you met your wolf?" He was definitely excited. "I've talked with Rylie a lot, but we've not shifted yet, I'm not 16 until, oh actually next week. yes I'll be 16 next week. I'm not sure about shifting though, I've not heard from Rylie since yesterday, I can't feel her at all." I felt sad at the lack of contact with Rylie, Jaime-Lou put an arm around me, "She's probably just exhausted from healing you sugar. It takes a lot out of a wolf to heal their person before they're 16. just give her some time to rest." I nodded, I hope that was what the problem was, I missed Rylie so much already.
After lunch Sarah found me, "Gwen, we have a room ready for you, and some of our teenagers have donated some clothes for you to keep. Your room is just two doors up from Jaime's, so you will be close enough if you need her for anything." She told me. I couldn't help but feel excited, it had been quite some time since I'd had my own room, some privacy would be a luxury.
Jaime-Lou and I ran down the corridor towards my room, when we got there I had to stand outside for a minute to catch my breath. I turned the handle and pushed the door open. The room was exactly the same as Jaime-Lou's. I had a bed, a small chair, a closet and a small bathroom. I opened the closet and there was a rail with clothes on it and a small pile of towels to the side. There was a lock on my bedroom door, so I knew I would be safe here. I felt like it was Christmas, I couldn't stop the giant grin spreading on my face. "I'm so happy that you like it, and I'm so happy that you're finally here" Jaime-Lou said, bursting into tears. The sudden emotional outburst shocked me, I didn't know how to deal with other people's emotions, I could barely deal with my own. "Jaime-Lou, what's wrong? why are you crying?" I asked, she looked at me from under her lashes, "Nothing is wrong Gwen" she said quietly through sobs, " I'm just so happy to have you here, away from that shitty life you were stuck in. I've wanted to bring you here for so long, but Tungi always said the time wasn't right." I hugged her, "I'm happy to be here with you too" I told her, a few tears escaping my eyes. "I honestly thought that Gabe was going to kill your sorry excuse of a brother sometimes" She whispered, "He hated sitting back and watching you being put through so much pain and humiliation." This surprised me, "I don't know Jaime-Lou, I kind of get the feeling that Gabe would be happier if I wasn't here, he's not exactly been friendly to me" I was cautious saying this, Gabe was her brother after all. She laughed through a sniff, "Sugar, that is my brother being friendly, you don't want to see him when he's pissed at somebody. Gabe is thrilled you're here trust me. We all thought you and him were mates for a while as he he was so protective of you, but when he turned 18 he didn't feel the pull towards you, so we knew you weren't mates, but he us still very protective of you. Gabe will defend you with his life."
I decided that I needed a nap after a busy morning, so Jaime-Lou went off to do what ever she would normally do, and I locked the door behind her and climbed into my bed. My bed. It sounded so foreign to me, but it was my bed, this was my room. I fell asleep pretty quickly and heavily, I must have been more tired than I thought. I opened my eye's, I was back in my old room. I could hear someone opening my door. I felt a cold sweat all over me as panic set in. if I pretended to be asleep perhaps they would go away. "Wake up little wolf" I heard a familiar voice, I didn't move. "I know you can hear me, I can hear your heart beat" he growled, getting closer. My heart was beating so hard that I thought it might burst through my chest. I felt a hand around my ankle, slowly creeping up my leg. I was frozen, I couldn't move. the hand crept higher until it found my underwear and ripped it off my body. The tears were falling now, "Please don't " I whimpered, the man laughed, a cold menacing laugh. "Don't fight it little wolf, you know I can make this easy or hard, it's your choice." He pulled my covers away, exposing my half naked body, I turned to face him, to see the face of my attacker, I screamed as I saw the man. he had the body of a human, but the head of a wolf. Blood shot eyes starring at me, "Give it up little wolf, I will take it anyway." He growled loudly as he jumped on top of me. I could do nothing but scream, as he started assaulting my body. His fingers started elongating, changing into claws that he dug into my thighs, while his wolf head grinned and drooled over me, the pain was unbearable, I screamed louder, begging for help, then I heard someone banging at the door. I screamed again and the banging got harder and louder until the door smashed open. I couldn't see who had come in, but I suddenly felt soft hands on my face. The feeling of the claws started fading, the soft hands stayed on my face. I felt my body shaking, almost like I was convulsing. I shot up panting for breath, I couldn't see, my tears had blurred my vision. "Gwen, Gwen wake up" I heard a frantic voice next to me and jumped back, pinning myself against the wall. "Gwen it's ok, it's Gabe, Jaime-Lou has gone to get help, but I'm here, you're safe" I blinked a few times, trying to clear my vision, I saw Gabe stood next to my bed visibly shaken. "Gabe?" I asked confused, "What are you doing here?" I heard him exhale loudly, relief washing over his face. "Gwen, I think you were having a nightmare" he said, "We could hear you screaming, I had to break your door down, I was so worried." I looked at the door, it was demolished, I looked back at Gabe, "I'm sorry I worried you Gabe" I sobbed out quietly. "Will you come down from there now please?" He asked, and I lowered myself back down onto the bed, sitting on the edge with my legs hanging over the edge. Gabe pulled me to him, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug, I stiffened, scared of what would happen next, but nothing happened, he just held me. I relaxed my body and leaned into his chest. For the first time in a long time I felt comforted in the arms of a man.
Jaime-Lou and Sarah came rushing in just then, stopping just inside my room starring at me and Gabe. "Um, Gwen are you OK?" Jaime-Lou giggled, I pulled back from Gabe and looked slightly embarrassed at Jaime-Lou and Sarah. "Yeah, sorry. it was just a bad dream" I told them. Sarah stepped forward, "Come on, let's get you in the bathroom and wash your face" I followed her into my tiny bathroom, it was a bit of a tight squeeze, but we managed. Sarah wiped my face down with a damp cloth, "I can arrange for you to talk to someone like a Councillor if you would like, I think it may be a good idea for you to talk to someone about everything you've gone through." I thought about it, would I be able to tell someone else and drag up all if my memories? " Can I think about it?" I asked, she nodded "Of course you can sweetheart. just tell me if you want me to get someone and I'll do it in a heartbeat. I also have a message to deliver to you." I looked at her curiously, "Tungi wants to see you tonight at sunset. She will meet you on the roof." I nodded, sunset was only in a couple of hours, hopefully I can finally get some answers.
