Cameron’s POV
Stepping out of the building into chaos, I bark out orders while trying to stay calm and search through the crowd for Ava.
Why is Ava not answering me?
What has happened to her?
Most of the crowd has gathered across the street and standing nearby, while others are spreading out to join the patrol in search for Rachel and her helpers or Ava.
Moving into the crowd, I catch a whiff of Ava’s scent and I quickly cut through the crowd to follow it.
An uncomfortable knot forms in my stomach when I look down and see a few drops of blood on the pavement.
Ava’s blood.
But not much.
Her scent is easier to pick up now with the occasional small drop of blood, and I follow the trail through the crowd as it leads me to a patch of grass in front of the woods.
More blood.
