EVIE’S POV I don’t remember much of the drive home. Only fragments. Streetlights blurring through the windscreen. The quiet hum of the engine. My own thoughts running in endless circles. By the time I reach my flat, I’m exhausted. Not physically. Emotionally. I kick off my shoes the second I get through the door and collapse onto the sofa without even turning the lights on.
