EVIE’S POV Thursday starts normally. Comfortably normally. By this point, I’ve learnt that “normal” at Wolfe Publishing means coffee, editing, emails and Alexander disappearing into meetings at random intervals throughout the day. I arrive just after eight-thirty. Alexander is already in the office. Of course he is. He looks up from his laptop as I walk in. “Morning, Snow.” “Morning, Wolfe.” His mouth twitches. Apparently, he still hasn’t decided whether he likes the nickname. The morning passes quickly. I spend most of it editing manuscripts, responding to feedback and attempting to untangle an author’s frankly horrendous grammar. Around eleven, Alexander vanishes into a meeting. Then another. And another. He returns just before lunch looking more irritated than usual. “P
