“I can’t believe it. I never thought Brandon was capable of this.” Rachel said scanning each and every injury on Iorwen.
“I think we should get some revenge.” Oswald said and Lucas nodded in agreement.
Typical boy behaviour.
“I already took care of that. You can visit them in hospital if you don’t believe.” Iorwen said calmly chewing on the sandwich.
“How are you so calm?” Laurel asked looking truly terrified.
“Truthfully I was scared then but I am fine now. And I am really thankful to Kai for being there since I had no idea what I would have done.”
“So you found your prince charming, finally!” Rachel said with a teasing tone.
Iorwen rolled her eyes.
“You know I hate this s**t, I just think he is a good guy.”
“Ah! So you think he is a good guy?” Lucas asked with a grin.
She glared at them but they all just smiled at her.
“Iorwen, come with me now!” Tristyn was standing next to her.
She was getting habitual of this.
“Guys I have to go.” She said awkwardly.
“Avoiding talking about him, that is a good sign.” Rachel said wiggling her eye brows.
“Whatever Rach, see you later guys.”
As she walked with Tristyn, she felt a new sense of calm settle in. What was with him and his presence that made her feel secure?
“I am fine thank you Tristyn.” She said sarcastically.
His jaw was stiff and she could see a muscle ticking there. He was angry.
“What is wrong?” She asked confused at his mood.
“Who did this?” He asked through gritted teeth.
Oh, so the anger was not directed at her and this amazingly calmed her down. This was a first, she never before bothered how people around her felt.
“Brandon and his friends”
“Can I kill him?” He said in a real dangerous tone.
She had never seen Tristyn this angry.
“I already left them half dead.” She exaggerated a bit to calm him down.
“God, I am so glad you are one badass girl!” He sighed in relief.
She had to laugh at this. It was a wonderful feeling how he cared about her and was willing to beat the guy who did that.
Her laughter made him relax and he smiled at her.
“So was this one of your luring girls trick?” She asked.
“Is it working?”
“No in the slightest.”
The bell sounded for the class breaking their talk.
“Have to go, I already missed class yesterday.”
As she turned to leave, his hands reach out and caught her wrist.
Something fluttered inside her stomach, a new feeling which almost stopped her heart.
She noticed her eyes looking at her injured knuckles, and another cut on her palm she had from stopping the knife from hitting her face.
She was surprised to find the pain and concern on his face. His blue eyes were intensely looking at her now.
“You are hurt.” He almost whispered it like it was his fault.
“Moore, don’t be a sappy guy and think that it is somehow your fault and that you should have been there to protect me. I can very well protect myself and even you if required.”
“But that tool was there.” He said rather hatefully.
“What tool?” She said genuinely not sure what he was talking about.
“Kai f*****g Arden!”
“Oh, yeah he did come at right time or I would have died from hypothermia or something.”
Tristyn had multiple emotions run through him. He was angry and sad on Iorwen being hurt, disappointed that he was not there and jealous that Kai built his trust with Iorwen.
“So you like him now?” He asked with worry evident in his voice.
“Well, he did help me so I will stop detesting him but liking is completely different. I don’t just like a guy for his looks. It might take a lot for that. I am difficult that way.” She said frowning as if she felt something was wrong with her.
Tristyn felt happier all of a sudden.
“I truly agree with you, you are really difficult. With your looks you should be easy.” His teasing self was back.
He was relieved and jovial to know that he was on better term with her than Kai was. He never really had to compete with anyone, but now it felt really stressful if the girl paid slightly more attention to your opponent.
“I would have been easy if I needed a boyfriend. I know I am not high on looks department but I really cannot stay with a guy, I really hate commitments and the guy will hurt for no reason.” She answered seriously.
This surprised Tristyn, he was kidding but the girl really thought she was not pretty. His eyes focused at her and he was struck by how appealing she was. He loved her eyes, he loved her smile, the pink tip of her nose when she was cold, the redness of her ear when she was shy, her wild red hair... Suddenly he realised he liked many things about her.
It was so unsettling but he was not attracted by her looks, what got him interested was her sassy attitude. He was always for the outer beauty since he never stayed long enough with a girl to know her character or nature.
“There is something about your eyes Senorita...” He said and realised he had said it out loud.
“What?” She asked tilting her head in his direction.
“They don’t function properly since you have not fallen for a Greek God like me.” He reframed his words.
“Ha-ha Moore, I have seen better.”
As soon as she said that she knew she was lying.
“Where? In your dreams? But I know for sure you dream about me”
“I have better things to do than dream about hot guys.”
“So you are saying I am hot?”
“Argh! I never said I dream about you!”
“But dreams are reflection of what your mind thinks most about and that is obviously me.”
“In that case I should dream about Hogwarts!”
“Oh no, you and your Harry Potter mania!”
“I will make you read the book, you have missed most of the fun from just watching the movie.”
“I do not read Senorita, not for anyone.”
“Not even for me.” She said in a honey sweet girly voice, pouting like a child.
Her actions took him by surprise. His heart was in havoc and he felt pulling his mouth shut as he stood gawking at her damn cute and yet somehow seductive action.
“Ha! Nice one. You actually behaved like a girl.” He covered his ogling with smart comeback.
“See, I can act well.” She said making a disgusted face after behaving like that.
She really hated being the girly girl.
“Iorwen, thank god! I was worried.” Kai said from behind.
He was breathing hard, looked like he was running.
“I am fine Kai, no need to over react.” She said with a laughter.
Her laughter for Kai hurt Tristyn like a sharp dagger. If only he was visible no one would have dared to come near her.
He fell into steps with her and his arm automatically went around her shoulder. Tristyn stiffened at this and Iorwen noticed.
She shrugged his arm off with ease and saw Tristyn’s lips lift into a smile. She had no idea why she did it, maybe because she was not really comfortable with such gestures.
Kai was startled but quickly recovered from shock.
“My shoulders hurt from the injury.” She lied to him.
An understanding crossed Kai’s face and he nodded and smiled.
She felt suffocated between the two and indicated Tristyn to go.
But he completely ignored the request.
“Why are you out of class Kai?” She asked trying to push either of one.
“Because you are.” She said these big words lightly.
“Tell him he doesn’t need to do that. He doesn’t need to be dumber than he already is.” Tristyn said hatefully.
“Kai I need to go to library. How about we meet for lunch?” She said trying to get out of this sandwich.
“I’ll come along. I also need to visit the library.”
“Oh, well okay.” The guy helped her, she can’t just push him away.
She almost felt Tristyn growl... and it was hard for her to accept but it was kind of sexy.
“This guy can’t take a hint.” He said.
“Hey, Iorwen!” A voice called out from behind.
All of them turned.
A beautiful girl walked towards them wearing black leggings, maroon long knitted sweater and brown boots. Iorwen found her familiar.
And with her came Laurel and Rachel. Class was over now so they might have come out together with this new girl.
“Wow! She is hot.” Tristyn commented.
Iorwen felt her blood boil but she just shook her head at him, he chuckled in response.
“Elizabeth!” Iorwen realised as the girl came closer.
She had shed the baggy clothes, the glasses and braces. Her hair was now glossy and neatly done.
“Our makeover magic.” Rachel said proudly.
“She said she was friends with you.” Laurel like an explanation.
“Don’t I look pretty? Now I guess no one will bully me now.” She said shyly.
Though her outfit and look was completely changed, her demeanour was still the same. She was still uncomfortable with all the attention.
Iorwen stepped forward and gave her a small smile of approval.
“You look really pretty Elizabeth.” Kai said but his statement was accompanied with a frown.
He was eyeing her with doubt. Iorwen noticed this but decided to ignore this. She was not the one to meddle or get too curious with matters around her.
Elizabeth finally lifted her eyes giving a flirty smile to Kai but then her eyes widened and she gasped.
Something dropped in Iorwen’s stomach as she noticed the familiar gasp of awe and direction of Elizabeth’s gaze which rested on Mr. Invisible and she was blushing deeply.
