Unknown POV
These stupid dogs, having more security doesn't do any good for their little pack. They had no idea what they're in for, until my eyes laid on her, I knew she was the one. You could practically see her aura glow around her. She was the hybrid. The Burnadette hybrid had finally surfaced. She was going to be our savior. Too bad for her, she was a beautiful specimen. I watched the entire ceremony just to get another full glimpse of her. Douglas was going to be ecstatic, she was the key to it all. Her name was called and what a beautiful name it was, Cordelia Celeste Summers. She had no idea what she was to our clan. I can just imagine what she tastes like. She made her way across the stage and the Alpha's eyes lit up, great, another Luna. We had been alive for centuries waiting for the born hybrid to surface again. Why does their moon goddess try her damnest to make sure she's nearly impossible to get to.
She turned on the stage to face her people and let her eyes roam. Directly to mine.. f**k, hopefully her mate doesn't notice. I spoke too soon because immediately I felt the aura in the place shift and felt his eyes burning a hole through me. I simply turned around and made my way through the crowd. He had no way of catching me, even if he thought he did. Our witches made sure we could get in and out with ease. I just had to make it past these guards and away from some of these mutts and I could use this traveling potion those witches gave me. They all came running at me immediately though, as expected. Their alpha must have sent them a mindlink of my face. Lovely, now I've got to go home smelling like a dog.
"Come on poochies, it doesn't have to be a fight. I was only looking like I have for the last twenty years," he said, winking at them.
One of the guards shifted and went after me, running into a right hook that sent him flying. Another two came in human form swinging. I managed to dodge a few of the punches but also had a few land. It doesn't matter, I'm older and I'm smarter and I know how these creatures fight. I dodged many of their attacks until I felt the one who shifted land on my back pinning me to the ground. f**k, I had to get the potion and get out now, even if it meant some of them were coming with me. I felt the two that were still in human form grab my arms, getting ready to lift me up. I had to wait for the perfect opportunity to make my escape. They lifted me up but when they went to grab their chains, I ripped my arms from their hands and rolled out of the way, dropping the potion on the floor and jumping in the mist. Why couldn't I be like a normal vampire and teleport? This f*****g curse is going to drive me insane.
I opened my eyes to be back at the castle, thankfully with no stragglers. I looked up to see I was in one of the commonrooms full of our clan members, all of their eyes on me.
"Mind your business, or you can sleep in the dungeon for a month!" I screamed. I may sound harsh, but spending a millennium with the same people has a way of driving you mad. They all turned their gaze and I walked down to Douglas' office. I couldn't wait to see his face when I told him the good news.
Douglas POV
I sent my right-hand man, Preston, into the Canis Lupis pack. We've been going to every graduation ceremony of every pack for the last 20 or so years. I was going to find this hybrid. I knew it had been a little over five hundred years, so all we could do was wait until the next hybrid b***h surfaced. The last one ended up dying in battle shortly after her eighteenth birthday. What a waste that was. Our curse had been going on for over a thousand years and I couldn't handle it anymore. We were the olden "vampires" except our curse was worse. We could feel any pain we inflicted on the humans we were driven to hunt and feed on, we burnt in the sun except for a select few of us. We were destined to live forever, we could die, but we came back shortly thereafter. We are cursed with the trauma and abuse for something that happened thousands of years ago. We need her. Her blood was the loophole, the hybrid gene laid dormant in their family line except every five hundred years. Our entire clan wanted the curse to end. We wanted the option to decide when and how we got to die. Half of my clan wanted to die, the others wanted to take a deal with the vampires we worked with. They offered to turn those of us who wanted to live into actual vampires. I was one of them. I loved the thought of being alive, but the witch made it impossible to enjoy life. Blood being the only thing we could eat, we grew accustomed to it, we even enjoyed it, so the thought of being a vampire didn't bother us. At least we wouldn't feel their pain that way. The feeling of draining the life out of someone was euphoric, but feeling the death of every person I ate felt like I was dying. Our curse doesn't sound that awful, but imagine over a thousand years of pain. A thousand years of torture, never being able to leave these pitiful people. Hopefully, the weak die off and the strong make this clan the strongest out there again.
"Boss, I have good news and bad news," Preston said.
"You found her?" my eyes lit up. Could this finally be it.
"I found her, but she's mated to the alpha of Canis Lupus. They're closer than the last couple were. She didn't even speak to him and he pinpointed me out of the crowd. She's stronger than the last." he said with a hint of worry.
"I don't care how strong she is, Preston. I am finished living like this. She will be sacrificed and will complete the ritual regardless of her mate. He can't kill me, so why would we be worried?" I said calmly. I would kill the entire world over if it meant getting released from this life.
"I'm not worried, Douglas, I just don't know how we're going to get her out of there. She spotted me so quickly, as if she knew my intentions for her. It's just not going to be easy going after the Luna of one of the strongest packs in the country," he said.
"Hard, yes, Impossible, no. I will have them all slaughtered if I have to. I want peace." coming out more like a plea than a statement. "Is there anything else I should know? What is her name?" I asked.
"Her name is Cordelia Summers. That is all I know," he said.
"Alright, then you're dismissed." I said, shooing him away. He nodded and walked out of the room with a scoff.
I had to figure out how I was going to do this and I didn't need his attitude. I've got to find a way to get them out of the pack territory so I can take her. I didn't want to kill the girl, but I would kill anyone if it meant I could end the torment of my people and I.
