Two Hearts, One Future

Chapter Four

*** Levi's POV ***

My pack is situated in a small town called Wolfe City in Texas. I know it's ironic that we made our home here. The Lune Pack is near Hayes, Louisiana. The drive from our pack to the Lune Pack is around 6 hours long, so we left our packhouse at around noon, to get to the ball at 6 pm. 

I ended up bringing around 60 unmated wolves. All of them were either high ranking in the pack or the best warriors we had. My brother was one of the unmated wolves going because my mom was hoping that Jessamine would turn out to be his mate. Although I doubted my roguish brother deserved such a notorious mate. Rumor has it that Jessamine was a vicious warrior and incredibly independent. Honestly, I felt bad for whoever turned out to be her mate, it didn't seem like she would be an easy one. 

I was leading our small caravan in my truck with my beta, my gamma, and my brother. And the other 57 wolves were spread out between 12 or so cars. My beta, Alexei, was sitting next to me and looked like he was deep in thought. 

"What are you thinking about?" I asked him. He looked over and shoved his hand into his hair.

"I just really hope that Jessamine's mate is in our pack. She is a very strong wolf and from a very strong pack. It would be really good for us," Alexei said reasonably. He was right. Having an alliance and partnership with the Lune would be amazing for the Odin pack. "Honestly, Alpha, if she doesn't find her mate at this ball I think you should offer to be her chosen mate."

I felt my eyes widen in shock. I glanced over at Lex and he looked completely serious. "What? I have waited this long for my destined mate, I am not throwing it away now." Lex looked away and shrugged his shoulders. I looked back at the road and gripped the wheel tightly. There was no way I was going to throw away my mate. I might not know her yet but she is mine. 

We drove the rest of the way mainly in silence with my brother mumbling and complaining every so often. We pulled off the highway and started going down winding small roads that took us deeper and deeper into a swampy forest. I started to feel the power of territorial lines and I knew we had entered the Lune territory. As we continued driving there were cute cabins spread out throughout the trees, the further we went the more cabins there were until eventually, we reached an area that felt like a center of a town. There were a bunch of cabins and stores all surrounding a gigantic mansion. The mansion was huge, even bigger than theirs which is truly impressive. 

"Wow," my brother gasped. There were pups and she-wolves running around everywhere. It was a lively happy pack and I loved seeing how great of a place this was. Maybe if Jessamine doesn't find her mate I will have her matched with my brother, this really would be a great alliance. 

I parked in a huge grassy area where a bunch of other cars was parked. My pack parked all around me and we got out of the car and stretched our legs. Right when I stepped out of the car I smelled the most amazing smell. It smelled like fresh cut flowers and sunshine. It made me feel something I had never felt before. It made me feel whole. "Mate" I growled.
