Chapter 12

ADA POV I kicked and tried to scream but there was something in my mouth. All I could see was black and I started gagging on the stuffing in my mouth. Breathing was getting difficult, I felt like this may be the end. “Cyrus!” I tried to scream. It came out muffled. I pushed with my tongue and the stuffing finally came out as inhaled a sharp painful breath. I tried to reach up to pull whatever was over my head but my hands were bound to something. I heard footsteps and someone snatched the cover from my face. It was a man with a large build and he was scowling at me. I recognize him from the dinner. It was Cohen’s beta. Cohen was behind this? “What do you want from me?” I begged. “I want nothing from you, you half breed whore.” Finnan, the beta spat. “Then why am I here?” I asked confused. “The alpha wanted you. I’m here to deliver you to him.” “I’m not a parcel you can deliver! I’m the princess and the alpha! You’ll be sorry when Cyrus finds you!” I scream, trying my hardest not to cry. “We have covered your scent. Cyrus will not be coming to save you. And if he does come, it’ll be too late.” Cyrus is coming. I know he’s coming! I just have to hang on until he finds his way to me. CYRUS POV They can’t be too far, she was only out of my sight for half an hour. I should change into my wolf to make the tracking easier but I’m afraid of what he may do when he gets to them so I stay in human form. I followed Finnan’s scent until it smelled like I was beside him. I don’t see him but his scent is strong. I can feel Ada is close by, my wolf can too. They’re here, the camp must be shielded which means they have a witch. I catch scent of my brother, Cohen. I crouch down out of sight so he doesn’t see me. I see him and a few more wolves walking toward what must be the shield. The whole side opens to let them in and I feel Ada’s fear. Before it closes I squeeze in unnoticed. I follow Ada’s scent to a small shack in the middle of the camp, this must be where they are holding her. As I lean against a broken window, I hear my brothers voice. “Good afternoon Adalene.” He says sounding like he’s pouring syrup from his mouth. She says nothing. “It’s not polite to ignore your alpha.” “YOU are not my alpha.” She spat. Good girl. “Oh but I could be Adalene. We could be quite the pair. I’ve heard you haven’t found your mate, you may never find him.” I’m going to kill him. “Who says I haven’t found my mate?” She quips. “How could you find your mate when you don’t even have a wolf, little girl? What I’m proposing is an alliance of sorts.” “You have just kidnapped me and you are asking for an alliance?” “I would like to marry you Adalene. We could be king and queen alpha and rule together. We couldn’t have children so we wouldn’t have to give up our seat when the children come of age.” “I will not marry you. You are a power hungry snake and you’ll never be king.” “I guess I’m left with only one option. I had wished you would accept, for my brothers sake. You do know when you are killed, your mate feels that pain. They lose a part of themselves and often die of heartbreak.” I heard his footfalls moving toward the door and the door slam. “She’ll die at first light. Maybe a fire would be nice.” I heard my brother say. I waited for pitch dark to make my move. I looked to the door and seen only one guard. I snuck behind him and snapped his neck and laid him down quietly. I opened the door to find Adalene trying to untie the rope on her hands. “Cyrus thank gods!” She exclaimed. I held my finger to my mouth telling her to stay quiet. I took the rope from her hands and we headed out the door. I kept my her hand in mine so she wouldn’t fall behind. It was also nice to touch her after what had happened. We quietly made our way around the camp to the shields door, I threw some sand in it and it opened up. We quickly made our way back to camp and packed everything up. We couldn’t stay here and we had to find a witch. They will not just leave us alone. My brother wants her title and he’ll stop at nothing to get it. He knew she was my mate and tried to marry her anyway. My brother and I hadn’t been close since he took over as alpha but I never expected him to try to take my mate. “Are you my mate, Cyrus?” Ada blurted out like she could not hold it in any longer. “Ada, you know you can’t find your mate until you get your wolf.” I say trying to dodge the question. “Fine. I will rephrase. Am I Adalene, your mate, Cyrus Catori?” She said playfully. I dropped my head and eyes to the ground. She softened and took my hands. “Cyrus, I don’t know what I feel. It has never been a thought of mine to find a man. Mostly because of the men in Warlington are vile creatures. But I knew there was something drawing me to you. I have thought of nothing but you from the moment we met in the woods. I wouldn’t care if you aren’t my mate, I just want you Cyrus.” I grabbed her by the waist and pulled her to me and pressed my face to hers so my mouth was at her ear. “We will figure this out my princess. We will unlock your wolf and she will tell you who your mate is. There will be no question, you will feel it in your bones. Your heart will ache for your mate.” I pulled her closer into me and squeezed. “You won’t even remember what life was like before them.”
