I turned on Nikolai ready to reject him to when Brecclan grabbed my arm and whirled me back around facing him. He stood an inch from my face as his eyes looked like they were on fire and I could see my reflection in the red burning orbs.

Brecclan turned to Luca still seething as if he expected him to say something

" Say it Luca." Luca looked as if he had seen a ghost. I watched Luca gulp and his Adams apple bobbed up and down and finally he looked me in the eye, "I Luca Othanos do not accept your Aubrette Shayleigh Starvos' rejection." Luca's voice was calm but laced with pain.

"You both f*****g disgust me. I hate you!" I screamed at both of them and turned on my heel running down the corridor to my room the only place in this god forsaken palace I had that felt even remotely safe.

"You f*****g imbeciles. I can't believe you. Come near her again and I'll kill you myself. She almost rejected me. This is on you and I wouldn't blame her if she wanted nothing to ever do with you again." I heard Nikolai screaming at them as I ran away.

I was shocked that he stood up to them the way he did. That he threatened his mates whom he had marked and completed the bond with over me.

Tears poured down my eyes as I turned stood in the shower washing the blood and grime off my body and out of my hair. I retched feeling the consistency and chunky that clung to my hair.

My eyes felt like sandpaper and as if they were heavy. I had cried so much and I was just emotionally exhausted.

After drying off and brushing out my hair I pulled on a cami and shorts pajama set and crawled on the bed.

"Aubrette! Can I come in? I promise I mean no harm. I just want to talk and see how your doing." I could hear the pain and worry in Nikolai's voice and to be honest I didn't want to e alone. "Come in." my voice stuttered from crying so much.

Nikolai walked in and I looked up at him. "You shouldn't be here. Your only going to make them do even more evil things to me. They don't want me around you. Brecclan warned me to keep my distance." I mumbled and heard Nikolai growl.

Before I could blink he was sitting on the bed with me. His hand hovered over me for a moment before he placed it on my cheek.

"I'm so sorry they sat and watched those disgusting pigs do that to you. When I walked in and saw what was going on I saw red." his breath fanned across my neck and I snuggled into his touch as my body relaxed.

Niko laid down and patted his chest and I hesitate but eventually gave in and snuggled into him

Niko threw the cover over us and clapped his hands making the light go out.

I laughed "Wow, I've never see such a thing. I could feel Niko laugh as his chest shook, "It was Luca's doing. He has them in our room as well." He told me.

"You all share a room?" I asked curious.

"We do. The mate bond refuses to let us relax and sleep well without our mates once we have marked them. Sometimes it can be a pain though. Like times like these. I'd rather it be sleeping with them at the moment." he exhaled and I peeked up at him.

"You can sleep in here with me, until your ready to go back. I don't mind." I hated the way my voice sounded needy to but fact was that being this close had made the bond grow stronger and it was nice having it placated if only while I slept.

"I woul be honored if I could stay here with you, Aubrette." he hugged me to him and began petting my head.

We laid quietly for a while. I closed my eyes and relished the tingles that relaxed me as I lay on Niko. I listened to his heart beating and his breathing. He was warm to the touch and felt like a heating pad.

"Niko?" I broke the silence.

"Hmm?"

"Why didn't the rejection breaker bond?" I asked him wondering how I'd ever get away from them

"I'm sure you've heard Aubrette that bonds aren't breakable. You can lessen the need for each other if and only if both parties reject each other, but the bond will always remain and try to pull you back together. Unless one of you die that is." he explained to me.

"Do you miss them? I mean does the bond want you to go to them?" I asked.

"It does but I also have freewill and I don't want to be near them at the moment. What they done especially because it was to our mate would be unforgivable if not for the bond."

"Where is your room at?" I asked him

"On the other side of that door." he pointed to the door I hadn't been able to open in the bathroom.

"I built this room for you. And for us to share with you once you were comfortable and we had marked each other." he whispered.

I sat quietly feeling guilt run through me. Nikolai had made this room for me. He had bought all these things for me to make me feel at home and I had ran from them. No wonder they were angry with me, but it still didn't excuse the lengths they went to to hurt me.

"Goodnight Nikolai!_ I whispered before closing my eyes.

"Goodnight Aubrette!"

I awoke and tingles were vibrating through my entire body. Thinking it was Nikolai I curled into his body and breathed in his scent.

My eyes pipped open!

This wasn't Nikolai. Jerking back my eyes popped open to find Luca starring back at me. The look in his eyes was like nothing I've ever seen before.

Niko was no longer there. He was running purely on instinct. His fangs peeked out from beneath his bottom lip.

"Luca, what are you doing in here?' I calmly stated as my heart began to race and I knew he could hear every beat of it.

I turned my head to him and watched in utter fear as black veins spread from his eyes and his lips curled back from his fangs. His eyes went from crimson red to black. His eye flashed and went from red back to black as if he was fighting his instincts.

He grabbed a fistful of my hair and jerked my head back, the pain causing tears to form in my eyes. I searched the room looking for Blip but he was nowhere to be found. I should have known. If he had been he would have already attacked, Luca.

A snarl ripped from his chest as his fangs scrape across the tender skin of my neck.
