When morning came, Amir was not there. I had slept late, given our late evening out and the argument that had kept me awake until one in the morning when I finally got to sleep. I had checked on Amir a couple of times, hoping that maybe he was also having trouble sleeping and we could talk things out, but he was out cold. No problem sleeping for him. I hoped that he had just stepped out for coffee, as he was not someone who slept late in the morning, but he was always considerate and let me sleep.
