Five

I watched as Viki curled up with her head on her knees. I looked at the time. He was late. "Daddy is late." I growled. Viki started to tremble and whimper.

The phone rang and I answered it. "I'm sorry, Miss. Nightshade. Master Adonis is refusing to listen to me. I am in front of him right now. Please don't hurt my daughter."

I growled. "You missed your thirty minute deadline. If one minute is one finger, what do you think five minutes means?" I grabbed Viki's wrist. She cried out and tried to beg me, but her words were lost within her tears and whimpering.

"Please, Miss. Nightshade! I am right in front of Master Adonis right now! I can put you on speakerphone for you!"

"Your task was to deliver my message, not have me speak to him."

"N-no! Please, Miss. Nightshade! Don't hurt me!" Viki begged.

"Daddy is so disobedient, Viki. I don't like disobedience. Now you have to pay the price for what he's done." I put the phone on speaker. "Let Adonis listen in, 'Daddy'."

"Yes, Miss. Nightshade. You are on speakerphone now." He sounded like he was going to cry at any moment.

"Five fingers. One for each minute you were late." I paused and started snapping Viki's fingers, one by one. With each broken finger, her screams echoed. "Now, for Daddy's disobedience, you are going to bleed."

"Now, hold on for just a moment, Miss. Nightshade." This was a different voice. This was Adonis speaking now. "Why must you torture that innocent girl, just to speak to me? I am right here, we can talk. Human to Beast."

"You have interrupted my punishment, Adonis. I seem to have forgotten where I was now. I think I may have to start over again. What was it now? Was it five, or seven?"

"Now, Miss. Nightshade, there is no need for that."

"Ah yes, I remember now. It was five and punishment for disobedience. What do you think, 'Daddy'? Should I break five more fingers?"

"No, please, Miss. Nightshade. I beg you, no more fingers!" Viki's father sounded like was crying. I smiled. I was glad I was getting through to him.

"Where do you want it, Viki? I'm feeling nice, so I'll let you pick where I slice you." I could feel the need to kill rising as Onyx fought to take over my body. It was an odd feeling. I've never wanted to kill anyone, but when I got Onyx, I've been having this urge to spill blood everywhere.

"My--" I looked at her as she coward away from me. I c****d my eyebrow at her when she didn't continue. "My a-arm."

"I suppose that will do for now." I grabbed her arm, extended my claws and slashed her arm open. She screamed in pain. "Oh... Oops. That was a bit deep. Might want to tend to that. I sometimes forget that I am a Beast." I laughed.

"Vivi?! Vivi talk to me! What's happening over there?" I felt a spark of jealousy in my chest. Viki has a father, but mine was taken from me by them. I growled at the feeling. It was making Onyx crave more blood.

"I-I'm okay, Daddy. Please don't disobey her again. I don't want to be hurt anymore." I watched as tears rolled down her cheeks. It was satisfying to watch.

"What would you like me to do, Miss. Nightshade?" He sounded angry, but fearful at the same time.

"Remove me off speakerphone." I paused and when he told me that I was no longer on speaker, I continued. "You will answer yes or no. Am I clear?"

"Yes." He replied. I smiled.

"If you lie to me, your little Vivi will die. Am I clear?"

"Yes."

"Good, now, does Adonis have any children?"

He hesitated for a moment before he sighed. "Yes."

"How many does he have?"

"Four."

"Your next task, bring me all four in the next hour, or your daughter dies." He didn't respond, instead he sent a text.

I looked at it. Him; "I can only bring you 3. 1 is still in the womb."

"How far along?"

The phone dinged. Him; She is 21 weeks. She is the best fighter Master Adonis has. Even while pregnant, she can fight up to 4 Beasts and not get hurt."

"Sedate them all and bring them to me. Your time starts now." I went to hang up, but he started to speak again. "Your time is ticking. What do you want?"

"If I do this, will you give me my daughter?" He sounded hopeful.

"I may have use for her yet. Get moving." With that, I hung up.

"Ixora, please, I--" I growled, cutting her off.

"She no longer lives. I am Miss. Nightshade. You will call me Miss. Nightshade henceforth. Do I make myself clear?" Each of my words were laced with growls. Viki nodded vigorously.

The phone dinged. Him; "Where am I to bring them?"

Me; "Bring them to the abandoned cabin in the forest. Do not be late." I closed the phone and shoved it into my pocket. "Do not move." I growled at Viki. She whimpered, shrinking away from me. I walked over and dragged Zack's body out from behind the AC unit. I heard Viki gasp at the sight. I wasn't lying when I said I killed him."

I released my control and changed into Onyx. "Oh my god!" Viki gasped. She reached out to touch me. "I've never seem someone change into their Beast before." I allowed her to touch my fur. "I wish I was born to your family." She muttered.

"Why?" She looked shocked. I guess she didn't realize that I hear her, even if she was muttering to herself.

"Umm -- Well -- I --" She let out a sigh. "I hate science! I always have! I love the concept of magic. When I was a child and my Mom was still around, she would read me stories that held princesses and princes. They held tales of magical lands and magical creatures. Seeing you change like that, made me remember all those stories."

"I see. Well, you wouldn't like to be born into my family. I'm the only one left of my blood. Your people killed my father, abandoned me in the jungle thinking I would bleed to death, then, on the day I got my Beast, they kidnapped my mother and when I found her again, she died in front of my eyes, just like my father did in the jungle." I paused and watched tears fill her eyes and spill down her cheeks. "Us Beasts are hunted day and night by your people. Are you sure you want to be one of us? Do you want to live in fear all your life? Are you ready to die young? Will you be able to leave your young behind in this world? I hate this life. I want, or rather, I wish I was born into a family who has nothing to do with those brothers."

"I didn't know we were that horrible to all of you." Viki sniffled.

"That's the problem, your people do know. They give out rewards for killing my people. Also, judging by the text you sent me while I was using Zack's phone, you knew. I'm sure some other soft hearted fool would believe those tears, but I don't. Now, pick up the body and get on before I lose my temper." I watched as she gathered everything and placed it on my back before climbing up herself.

I didn't care anymore if humans saw me. I am a Beast, and I was really pissed off at everything. Nothing was going to stop me. Not even Ursis. I felt something tug in my chest at the thought of Ursis. Whatever it was that I was feeling, it was bothersome. I used it to fuel my rage. I was going to put a stop to this war one way or another.
