“There was once a child, as he grew up he lived in what was remaining of Chicago. He learned to live as a hit-man, his accuracy with a g*n and his absorption when falling allowed him to always get his target. He learned the martial arts, and when Mr. Borne rose to power. He created the rebellion. He killed thousands of the Narrators’ guards during the war. But they lost too many people, and the rebellion went into hiding. The rebellion began assassination parties, killing the leaders that helped the Narrator. Anybody else against him was destroyed by the Narrator along with time. And then here we are, one of the last remaining assassination parties left.” My dad looked up at me as he finished, we were in his room talking about how this all came to be.
I looked speechless but was still able to muster up some words, “Do I know anyone here?”
His eyes looked more gentle and he answered, “Yes, in school you met Rylee. You asked me, “Is she an angel?” You liked her a lot, but you never told her. She remembers you, but you probably wouldn’t remember her, you were too young and a lot of dramatic things happened to you.”
“I did recognize her, and I thought she was the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. But I wouldn’t say anything, I didn’t know If I knew her.”
He then said, “You should talk to her, I know she likes you. You may not have noticed because that’s the first time you’ve seen her here. But she acted differently around you, she was a little firmer in her words. I think she was trying to impress you, any other time she speaks she’s rather nervous, timid.”
“I guess one day I’ll talk to her, but now is not that time,” I said.
He looked more worried and stern now, “May you be warned my son, now may be the only time. She was not the only one, her sister who had the same powers as her was the leader of power management before. She died on a mission, I hope then the right time comes soon. If not you may not get a chance. She is perfect for you, and you to her.”
I left the room thinking about what he said, one day I thought, one day.
