Tunga Basse

It’s hot here, like really hot.  And humid, can’t forget that.  I have to squint my eyes through sweat making the sun glow like a bomb’s blast.  If it wasn’t so unbearable I’d probably think it was nice.  The scenery was colorful, the airport base had flowers of every shade of red, yellow, and purple.  The runway was crumbling, the war between the forest and humans had taken a toll on its ground.  Roots from trees and vines entangled the ground, reaching out their hands to cover up every last remaining piece of our work.  The hangar for the helicopter had a tree breaking through the roof, vines dripped down like tears on a cheek.  The helicopter road is slowly sweeping up to avoid any branches flung up from the overgrowth.  We unloaded everything and watched as the chopper rolled to the hanger.  It barely fit, its blades cut at the vines.  We walked into the facility, broken glass littered the ground.  Looking up you could see the weathering from the plant life.  The branches from trees had poked holes in the glass roof, and vines hanged in with water dripping from the ropes.  I walked to the circuit breaker which was covered in dust.  A spider had built a web before the box and I yelled, “AHAHHAHA,”  I yanked away but the webs clung to me. “What on earth is going on in here,” It was Reaper, he wasn’t too happy about it, “Come on man, you made it through that house of death, and you scared of a little spider’s web.” I stopped scrambling, “I went there, doesn’t mean I wasn’t scared about it.” “Point taken,” he said. We fixed the breaker box and returned to the main room, it was a mess, we had a lot of work to do.  Dust and cobwebs covered most of the electronics for the mainframe.  The work was hard, at least for everyone else.  I just sat down and turned into my ghost and floated around cleaning everything I could.  I even at one point used the dimension to make a metal bar to keep up the roof.  Basically replacing the one and using its mass to create a replacement.  The sky grew dark and the sound of crickets chirping grew too.  Lucky we had fixed all the holes in the building.  Looking out the window you could see swarms of mosquitoes zooming around the whole sky.  It was impossible to see the moon, but as the weatherman said, it was a full one and not to go outside if you don’t want to get eaten. “What are we doing here?”  I ask calmly, as if not to sound irritant. Reaper turned to me, “It’s our new headquarters until we find something to do.  So get comfy, with that book taken from James.  He doesn’t have any power other than what it gave him.  So it probably would be a good idea to erase most of it.” “Shouldn’t we destroy it?”  I respond. “Heavens no, if we destroy that book we destroy the world and all of its reality along with it.”  He was really concerned, “I can’t even touch the thing without being killed on the spot.  Your the only one, for now, that can touch it.”  He said this mysteriously which made me nervous about what he meant by, for now… I was quick to speak again, I really wanted to know what he meant, “What do you mean for now.” “One day you’ll know, one day,”  he said, I was rather disappointed I couldn’t know. That night as I was sleeping I had a dream, I saw again this room, shiny but the people were in different places.  Now the person that looked like me was actually sitting next to Rylee.  He turned to me and said, “Only time will tell if another can write in the book.” He was sitting on the far left of the room, “Wouldn’t you like to know who..?” “Yeah, of course, I would…” I interrupted. “There are a million possible realities for this, but only one where…” he cut off, the dream was silent.  I turned around to see James standing there. He looked up, “Glad to see you again Eddy.” “It wouldn’t be a pleasure,”  I said grimly. “I am not going to allow you to know.”  He said, he then took his hands and yanked me to the ground with them. I turned around while falling into darkness, “Tell me what?!”
