I woke up again to a jolt from an unseen force, as my eyes adjusted I saw that it was Andrew.
“You got to get up man, I’m introducing you to the rest of us in training today. And, WHAT ON EARTH IS WRONG WITH YOUR FACE.” He said incredibly surprised.
I got up and looked in the mirror, “What on earth,” I said surprised, My smile had stretched out wider than my head three times over. And then I remembered, “Before I went to bed, I imagined my smile as I was incredibly happy and it could have been across the room.”
“Wait so you’re able to manipulate reality itself, that incredible, the possibilities this could have for all of the World are endless.” He said, he was a little too excited and turned around right into the wall but then it vanished. He freaked out as he turned around and the wall was back. He looked in the doorway, “Man, that is too cool.”
I looked at him and said, “I don’t even know what I did it just happened, your smart is it a thought or an action.”
He thought for a moment, “Well based on the fact you’re not moving at all and you’re able to bend the world to your own need, I’d say it’s both.”
“Well, I’m not using it for my own benefit. As what did happen, I stopped you from running into a wall. Can I turn into you?” I asked as he was looking away.
“Technically, Yes.” He said turning to another figure looking identical to him. His jaw dropped.
My dad then came into the room, “Why are there two of you?” he asked
“I have no clue,” he said, as shocked as he was he knew it was true.
“I did say what was real, you are meant to be the best of us.” My dad reminded us. “Come on, we have work to do, and make sure you pack your things before dinner. We have a plane to catch.” He said leaving to the Meeting room.
We went to the training room again, Andrew had an idea that I wasn’t too fond of.
“So I’m gonna through a ball at you, try and manipulate its molecular structure so it turns into a gas then back into a solid ball on the other side of you.” He said all this in one breath, a wonder of which doesn’t cease to amaze.
“And if I can’t do it in time?” I ask concerned.
He cheers up, “You’ll only have a mark on your arm for like a week or two no big deal.”
Now I was really concerned about this, he brought out a baseball pitcher machine and loaded it with all the baseballs we could find, “Aren’t you just a little concerned I might get hurt.”
“Nope, you should be able to change your cellular structure and heal quicker than a normal person.” He said this with ease, again too smart of a statement for me to understand. “You ready?” He said.
“Why wouldn’t I be,” I mumbled under my breath whilst nodding my head.
He started up the machine and a fall flung at me, it whizzed right by my head. Another ball came right after and this time I was ready, just before the ball touched me it vaporized. And then as if I wasn’t there. Materialized on the other side of me, which was cooler to watch than to be in the middle of it, “It worked!” I said gleefully.
“Yeah, and you didn’t get killed.” He was serious when he said this.
I looked back at him, “What? I could have been killed?” I was speaking a little louder now.
“Yep, this bad boy goes at nearly 150mph, which is more than enough to kill a person.” He acted so smart to say this now as if my life wasn’t at risk at all. “You should have seen Preston’s face when this thing hit him. He looked like a spaghetti man.” He said laughing.
I laughed with him as we put everything away and started walking to the kitchen, it was my night to cook. I hadn’t cooked before, but I knew it couldn’t be that hard. What could go wrong, I thought.
A few moments later,
Spoooossshhh, the fire was out. I turned around to everyone looking at me from the meeting table. “Well, at least the extinguishing foam is edible. And tastes like blueberries.” I turned around picked up what was left of the way overcooked chicken and put it on the table. I then thought of it being perfect on accident and poof. “Oops,” I said, nobody seems to have noticed because they just continued talking.
I walk out of the room which went unnoticed as well. I started walking to my room and then it happened again…
I collapsed to the ground my brain sinking into a new reality. I’m in a room, I see white light mostly everywhere. I look to my left to see a person at a desk, looking just like me looking at a computer and typing. He was typing vigorously, hyper-focused on what he was doing. He then paused, took a drink of a pink liquid from a cup that said, Perrysburg Yellow Jackets, He finished the drink and went back to work. He then paused turned around and looked me in the eye, “My friend, remember me?” He said, I then fell to the ground in the dream. I woke up and saw him, the Narrator standing in the hall of our place.
“You know, it’s really disappointing. The people out there, they don’t even know you’re gone. You do great things, my friend…”
“I’m not your friend.” I interrupt.
“...and yet we are family. I see your gifts, they are very special. And just like me, you’ve met him.”
“Who is he?” I ask.
James turned down to me knowing I can’t move yet, “You’ll see. Also, I’m gonna take your dad and Rylee with me on our way back. A little motivation to come after me.” He smiled a smile of evil.
I suddenly jump at him with what little strength I have in my hands.
“Ah, so you do care for her.” He says with a taunting smile.
I turn up from my face being smashed on the ground, “More than you could ever know. If you do this, you’ll be making a grave mistake.”
“No, you are the one that made a grave mistake. Now she is coming with me and you’re going to have to come after me.” After he said this he laughed.
A portal then formed behind him and two creatures walked out, they’re like human fishes, they walk on two legs their scales all perfectly aligned. Their fins reflecting the light from all the lamps. They carry spears of what looked to be remains of themselves.
“Get the girl they call Rylee and bring his father too. I have a gift for him to see.” James said this to the creatures, “They’re called Ice-Raven’s if you didn’t know. They breathe ice and smell of rotten fish. Stinky creatures, for having no brains they are actually quite loyal once turned.”
The creatures returned holding Rylee and my dad by the arms. They were knocked out and being dragged behind them. I shed a tear at the sight.
“Oh, how much you care will be your undoing,” James said waving them inside the portal again. He then got out his book, “So I don’t have to wait that long I’ll write in the book, that when this portal closes, Eddy will be able to stand again, very good. Now I won’t have to wait long. Ta ta, grandson. Till I see you next. Oh and if you’re wondering why they didn’t notice you, this book has a lot of potentials. I hope you see that now.”
As the portal closed I heard his laugh, with every evil intent. “Your gonna die for this,” I screamed as the portal finally shut. I then was able to move my legs.
I got up and ran to the meeting room, everyone turned to look at me, “We got a job to do. We leave in an hour.”
