Chapter 7
I WENT INTO MY bedroom and closed the door, but before I could undress and crawl in bed I heard the doorbell. Opening my door, I said, “I’ll get it. I can guess who it is.”
I went to the front door, let Norm in, and said, “I knew it was you.”
“You did?”
“You stopped by to compare notes, didn’t you?”
“Well, now that you mention it…. Hi, Sally.”
“Hello, Norm,” she said. “Josh was about to take a nap, I think.”
“A nap sounds good,” Norm said. “We can compare notes before we doze off.”
“Come on,” I said.
In my bedroom, I stripped to my shorts and hung up my clothes. By the sounds, I judged that Norman was doing the same. As we settled down on the pillows, I said, “You got here awfully quick from the beach.”
