Chapter 9 WHEN WE WERE in the car, I said, “Where are we going?” “George and Mike’s,” Zeke said. “It’s not too far from here.” “Do they mind?” “Not as long as we wash the sheets and make up the beds before they get home.” “And when will that be?” “Next Sunday. We’ve got lots of time.” While we were still snuggling in what I learned was the master bedroom at George and Mike’s house, I asked Zeke to do me a favor. “You name it,” he said. “I need you to take me back to that house two or three times—before there’s any furniture in it.” “Okay.
