“Alex!” Victoria screamed, her voice breaking with panic. Clutching his side, Alexander gritted his teeth against the pain. “Keep moving!” he growled. “I’m fine. Just go!” But Victoria didn’t move. She couldn’t. Instead, she grabbed a loose piece of metal and hurled it toward Dorian, forcing him to duck and momentarily cease fire. Taking advantage of the distraction, she rushed to Alexander’s side, grabbing his arm and helping him to his feet. “I’m not leaving without you,” she said fiercely, her eyes blazing.
