Alexander stood alone in the center of the room, his figure dark against the dim light filtering through the arched windows. His grip on the gun tightened as he faced Sir Thomas and Lady Meredith, who watched him intently. The two stood at the far end of the hall, their faces twisted into mocking expressions.
