| Asena P.O.V | The car's movements came to a shuddering pause in the driveway of the rather grand house, I knew my parents had obtained a lot of money with Dads job transfer to this quaint little town known as Cedar Valley how much money exactly was the thing I didn't know, but obviously quite a large sum considering the total size of this place. "Alright, the moving truck should get here in a few minutes but we have to go grocery shopping," Mom said grabbing her purse and pulling out two $100 dollar bills, "who wants to do it?" she asked, no one responded making her groan, she took out a penny & set it over the neck of her thumb. "Heads for Becc," Dad says before giving me a smile "tails for Sena." Mom flipped the coin catching it mid-air and slapping it on her palm, she looked down at the coin and smirked down at me making me groan and glare at my dad while Becc laughs with glee. Dad gives a 'sorry honey' as an apology and I turn back to look at my mother who is holding out the money for me to take. "Alright, I'll text you the grocery list," I wasn't going to lie, I was mildly pleased to get groceries all on my lonesome, I had been in that car for nearing 8 hours, walking into town wouldn't be so bad. "I shouldn't have to tell you not to talk to strangers now, should I?" Mom questions and I scoff. "No, you've implanted the stranger danger moto into my brain since birth." I chuckle and put my headphones into my ears before walking off in the direction of town. ~ It would take me approximately 25 minutes to get to town, & another 15 to find the darn supermarket. The stores I had passed by on my way to the Super were all quite plain, none of them had big striking letters at their windows asking for attention, nor neon signs that caught the eye from 3 blocks away, they were plain and simple. I had also noticed the eyes that watched me wherever I went, the townspeople had already gotten their first glimpse of me, hopefully, I wouldn't make them bring out their torches & pitchforks. I laughed silently at my own joke just as an elderly woman stepped into my path, her round thick prescription glasses dropping as she bumped into me "Oh gosh," she mutters, looking all around but not seeing the very glasses she had just dropped, I bent down and picked them up for her, the very prescription of the glasses made my headache. "I'm sorry ma'am, here are your glasses," I state politely handing them back to her, she puts them on and blinks a few times as if to clear her eyes, she looks at me once and looks at me again as if she couldn't believe her eyes. I finally cleared my throat and excused myself from her prying eyes. In the market, it wasn't any better everyone was whispering and pointing and staring as if I was some kind of alien species. I checked off everything in my mom's list and made my way to the cash register, surprisingly the boy at the cash register wasn't staring at me like everybody else, he was as cool as a cucumber and kept scanning my things, it was silent between us until he told me the total "$150.89 please," his voice had a bit of a southern accent to it. I pulled out the two bills and laid them on the counter, "So you're the little lady that's got the town going mad." He chuckles and my cheeks heat up "I'm Victor Rogers, nice to meet you." He smiled pulling out his hand for me to shake. I gave him mine, "Asena Whitewood." He grins again "Yeah, I know who ya are, we all know who ya are." He states and I look at him perplexed "Your momma is the new high school principal & your daddy is the new sheriff of the town, that AND we don't get a lot of new faces 'round here." he chuckles and I do to "Well little lady I do hate to cut our conversation short but my boss will get cranky if I hold up the line any more." I looked back at the people behind me and gave them all sorry looks. I gave Victor a sweet smile and grabbed my bags, lugging them out of the store. ~
