Betrayal echoes in Silence
He tried to speak but Aria cut him off.
"Don't even try to deny. I came to your house last night a little bit earlier than the time we agreed upon and I had you and Sadia's talking. And then the next thing I heard was you two kissing. So tell me, how long have you and my step sister been seeing each other behind my back?"
"I'm sorry Aria. I don't mean to hurt you, trust me," Jordan apologized, looking very remorseful.
"What did you think sleeping with my step-sister would do to me?" Aria said tears gathering in my eyes.
"I'm really sorry Aria. Please forgive me," Jordan begged, getting on his knees.
Taking her eyes off him, she said,
"When the man with whom I have been set up with comes for me today, I am going to accept to be his bride," Aria said.
Jordan immediately got to his feet wit a fit of rage and asked,
"You are going to get married to that stranger?"
"Yes, at least it is better than being with a traitor whom I have known for years," Aria replied and stormed out of his sight in anger.
Jordan was left behind feeling very remorseful. He couldn't believe he had lost the first woman he ever truly loved because of his unfaithful ways. Aria, who had promised herself that she wouldn't cry, returned to her room, locked herself in and cried her eyes out.
Later that evening, her husband-to-be, Lycan Duncan came to visit. Lycan Duncan was a very handsome 25 year old man with green eyes, black hair and was 6ft tall. He was no ordinary man. He was the prince of the Midnight Lycan Pack. Every woman was attracted to his handsome appearance and Duncan loved the attention he was getting.
Jezelle had forced Aria to dress up for his visitation. After discussing for a while, Lycan Duncan took Aria with him and they made their way back to the midnight Pack, which only took half a day to reach from Aria's pack. On the way, Duncan didn't say a word to Aria and neither did Aria. When they got to Midnight Pack village, Aria was astounded by all the beautiful things she saw.
Lycan Duncan took her to his mansion. As he led the way, Aria took the time to examine the beautiful interiors of the mansion. Finally, Duncan stopped in front of a door but Aria wasn't paying attention so she bumped into him.
"Can you watch where you're going?" Duncan said, sounding a bit rude.
"I'm.. I'm sorry," Aria apologized.
Duncan rolled his eyes before speaking again,
"This is your room. You'll stay here until after the wedding ceremony. Now, I'll leave you to go in and freshen up. We need to meet my brother, the Lycan king, in an hour's time."
Duncan left Aria standing in the doorway of her new room after saying that. Aria couldn't get rid of her sense of dread as she walked into the magnificently decorated room. This newlife had been forced upon her by the arrangement, and her desperation was worsened by Duncan's harsh behavior.
She stood up and tried to gather her thoughts for a moment. The beautiful interior of the building provided a little comfort to her distressed heart and mind. After she freshened up, she decided to rest a little. She didn't know when she fell asleep.
Suddenly, she felt a tap on her shoulder. It was gentle at first but then it became hard. When she opened her eyes, she saw Duncan standing over her with an angry expression on his face. Her eyes widened and she immediately got out of bed.
"Did I not give you an instruction 1 hour ago that you should freshen up because we were going to meet my brother?" Duncan asked.
"I'm… I'm sorry. I must have fallen asleep after having my bath. I swear, I only wanted to rest for a while," Aria replied.
"Just get dressed and let us leave," Duncan said with an irritated tone.
"I'm dressed already," Aria replied.
Duncan turned back to face her and took a carefully look at her from head to toe. He snorted in disgust and said,
"You mean you're already dressed in this rags you have on? Oh my world, what did I expect from a woman whom I had just taken out of the slums? I should have asked the maids to get you some nice clothes."
Duncan snapped his fingers twice and a maid from outside walked into the room.
"Get my bride something nice to put on," he said to the maid, who scurried away.
Duncan walked towards the bed and sat on it, while waiting for the arrival of the maid. In less than 10 minutes, the maid returned with a new dress that screamed "ROYALTY". On Duncan's orders, she handed the dress to Aria and walked out of the room. But instead of Aria to start changing, she stood still with the dress in her hands.
"What are you waiting for? GET DRESSED," Duncan yelled at her.
"I need you to leave the room...please," Aria said timidly.
Duncan snorted once again and said,
"Oh please, get changed already. You're my fiancée so it's not like I'm not going to see what you're trying to hide soon."
Still feeling uncomfortable, Aria walked into the bathroom and locked the door behind her. Duncan rolled his eyes and waited for her. Few minutes later, Aria stepped out of the bathroom, looking very beautiful in the rich red dress.
Without any compliments, Duncan ordered her to follow him and they made their way out of the room. Aria followed silently until they reached a giant door with two guards at the entrance. They bowed and opened the door, allowing Duncan and Aria to walk in.
"Welcome brother," a deep voice said.
Aria looked ahead and was dumbfounding when she saw who had spoken.
