Chapter 7

Scott had to leave the car in Michigan at the airport. Gina also couldn't help but wonder if that fake driver was supposed to be her driver or if they had killed her real driver just so they could get to her. Gina didn't want to think of that, all she wanted was to go home. Gina and Scott sat awkwardly next to each other on the plane. Ever since Gina had witnessed Scott turn into a beast she had never been the same. Who would have thought that something she saw in movies and read in books would become a reality? She was sitting next to a real werewolf, a werewolf had been her assistant for years now. It was all so bizarre. Gina didn't want things to be awkward between them, after all, Scott wasn't the enemy. Barbara was. She wanted to keep the friendship she had with him, so she decided to bring up small talk, she still had so many questions. "Uh—" she began, then she cleared her throat. Why was it this hard to talk to him all of a sudden? It was just Scott after all. Scott obviously heard her, and he looked. "Does it hurt?" She asked but Scott was confused. "When your. . . Claws come out." "Oh." Scott looked at his fingers. "It doesn't, it tickles." Gina nodded and she didn't ask anything else, they went back to silence. They were finally back in New Orleans and Smithers ( Gina's driver) was here to pick both her and Scott up. She still made sure to put on a smile, to make everyone think everything was okay. That was what she did when her dad died, that was what she tried to do when Dave left. She thought it easier to just hide her emotions to avoid being asked questions, to avoid being pitied. It was for the best, she didn't like that kind of attention. She was finally home, all she wanted to do was rest, but she couldn't because she had it in her mind that her psycho stepmother was out to get her. Maria enthusiastically walked out of the house and helped Gina with her bags. Scott was about to leave but Gina stopped him by touching his hand. Scott looked at her hand and then at her, she didn't look scared of him, she was scared of something else. "I need your help." She said. "It's Barbara." Scott nodded in agreement and they both went inside. They were headed for the study and when Scott fixed a glance at Maria, she winked at him. Scott had a small grin on and he shook his head. They both walked into Gina's study which had a shelf full of books, and a brown desk in the center with a desktop computer on top. Surprisingly, Scott had never been here. They usually had their meetings in the living room every time he came to the house. "She was the one that sent me that letter." She said and Scott nodded, he already had a feeling that it was him. "And she also hired hitmen to kill me." "What're we gonna do, she can't keep doing this." "I need to hire people to spy on her, see what she has been doing, I need proof that she wants to kill me so I can take it to the cops." "That sounds like a great plan. But what do I do? I can't just do nothing while that b***h screws with your life." Gina stared at him, she couldn't believe she thought he was going to hurt her. Scott always had her back, she had to know what. She knew exactly what to do. "I don't just want you to be my personal assistant, I want you to be my bodyguard." It was perfect, with a werewolf by her side, she was sure to be safe. "now that I know what you do at night, I was thinking maybe you could live here with me. That's until Barbara's caught, I'll also double your pay, and I can help you find the bastards who killed your parents." Scott didn't know what else to say. Him? Stay here in this big house with the love of his life? He was not expecting this twist at all. "Fine, I accept your offer but I don't need you to double my pay I'm doing this because I care about you." "And I'm also doing this cause I care about you." Scott was awestruck, he didn't know why. It wasn't like she said that because she was in love with him, she saw him as a friend and that was it. Scott saw it was no use protesting so he just accepted it. "Okay, fine." He said and Gina reached out her hand for a handshake. They both shook hands. Gina stared at him for a long time, she hadn't noticed how beautiful Scott was. She was so lost in his green eyes that she didn't even notice she was holding his hand for a long time. When she finally realized what was happening she snapped out of it, took back her hand, and cleared her throat. "We're going to take that b***h down one way or another," Gina said and Scott agreed with a nod. After Scott had put his duffel bag in his room which he thought was ridiculously gigantic, he set out to have a meeting with the pack. When he had gotten there Victor showed him a piece of clothing and on that piece of clothing there was a symbol of the rogue pack it was a triangle and it had a gigantic wolf in the middle. "Where did you see this?" He said taking the piece of clothing and looking at the symbol. "At the silk club," Victor said, it was just lying on the floor. "This means we're on the right track," Scott said with a smile he handed the piece of clothing back to Victor and he walked away to address the pack. "Everyone!" He immediately got their attention. "These rogue werewolves are here in New Orleans. Once you see that symbol." Victor raised it high for them to see. "Do not hesitate to question them, follow them, or better yet, torture them. These people are working for traitors who took lives mercilessly. And I will assure you this. They are going to pay for it." They all cheered in unison. Liam howled and the others joined him. Scott didn't know which one was better, getting closer to the people that killed his parents, getting rid of that annoying woman who called herself Gina's stepmom, or being in the same house with Gina. He wasn't going to tell Victor and Julie Gina knew he was a werewolf. He wanted them to focus on this first. He decided on telling them after they got their revenge.
