Gina was getting ready to go to a charity event. She originally wanted Dave to be her date but he told her he was going to be in Miami for a week on a business trip. It was funny because Dave was here but not really here, he was around but not close. Gina had kept in mind that Dave was back in her life but it still felt like he was in Australia.
Gina decided to go with Scott instead. She was in her room looking at herself in her full-length mirror. She wore a long blue dress, she wore silver-colored high heel shoes, white pearls around her neck, and bangles around her wrists. She put on makeup and her long ginger hair was gelled and straightened. She was satisfied with what she saw so she grabbed her purse and went downstairs to meet Scott.
There he was by the stairs looking sharp and handsome. Gina got him a black tux and his shoes, he protested but she insisted. He was in his tux, white shirt, black shoes, and socks and he had a bow tie on. His spiky black hair wasn't spiky anymore. It was gelled and he looked like a Hollywood actor, he didn't look like a personal assistant.
While Gina was walking down the stairs they both met each other's eyes. Scott had always been lost in Chloe's beauty, but this time he was more mesmerized. To him, she looked like a Queen ready to conquer.
"What?" Gina asked with a smile, Scott didn't even notice he was staring he shook his head and chuckled.
"Sorry, you look beautiful."
"Thank you, and you look amazing." He began to blush.
"You both look nice," Maria said with her hands clasped together.
"Thank you, Maria," Gina said to her. She turned to Scott with a smile. "You ready?"
"Yeah."
They both walked toward the door, Gina first and then Scott followed. Smithers was by the car ready to take them to the event.
John Smithers was a man in his early fifties, he was Gina's father's driver before he passed away. He always saw the Greens as family. He didn't want to be in the Greens' mansion knowing it wasn't going to be the same because Barbara lived there, so he followed Gina to her new home.
Smithers had known Gina since she was a little girl, and had watched her grow into the strong woman she was. To Gina he was more than just a driver, he was family. The only family she had.
Gina never met her mom because she died while having her, sometimes she would blame herself for her mother's death and her dad would tell her not to think of such things and that it wasn't her fault. And most times She would imagine having a mother figure. She thought she would have that connection with Barbara but the first time she met her, she knew she was going to be trouble, she wanted nothing more than for her to leave their lives. She thought if her dad finally gave up the ghost she would disappear, but she never did instead she decided to send unnecessary death threats.
Scott opened the door for Gina to get into the car, when she got in Scott followed. They zoomed off.
The charity event was sponsored by Genie's O'Neal company. An event where people from different companies raised money to donate to the less privileged kids in South Africa. And of course, when Gina heard about this donation she wanted to be a part of it.
Gina had called both her and Scott's names to the bouncer and he let them in. The whole place was packed. There were food, cocktails, familiar faces, and people her dad worked with. She hadn't even settled in when two of her dad's friend's started calling for her attention.
She knew what was going to happen, they were going to ask her how she was doing and how she was running her dad's company and if the rumors of her and Dave getting back together were true.
Behold, she was right they asked those questions. But why did she look at Scott when they asked about her and Dave, yeah, she knew Scott never liked Dave but he should know it was her life and she could do whatever she wanted. But was that the only reason why she looked at him? She had to be real with herself because for the past one week she couldn't stop thinking about him.
Another thing that happened over the past week was Gina paying people to spy on her stepmother and they all came back with the same claim, they didn't see her doing anything suspicious. It was either going to the spa or a friend's house. She told her spies to keep looking.
It was the same for Scott's pack, all they had was that symbol and nothing else. But that would never stop them from looking.
The event had begun with Mr. Bundy on the stage, Mr. Bundy was one of Gina's investors and was a good friend of her dads they were best friends in college and she had known him ever since she was a little girl, he was very nice and a huge asset to the company. Gina loved his support.
"Good evening everyone, I'm so happy we could all make it today." He began, he always had a smile on his face like he wasn't living in a cruel world. "I see all my old friends are here too. I'm still a little bit hurt we don't visit each other anymore but I'm also happy we all came for this event, you care about those kids more than me." He shrugged and everyone laughed. Another reason why she loved Mr. Bundy was his sense of humor and his ability to make a good joke. He always made her dad laugh.
The event went on, they showed pictures of the kids they wanted to help get an education, building of schools, and hiring teachers. Gina knew her dad would have been a part of this, her dad would always tell her that being kind to people didn't cost her anything and it would put a smile on other people's faces. Gina had repeated what her dad had said in her mind to this day and she didn't think her dad's voice would ever leave her head.
"Regina!" Mr. Bundy spread out his hands ecstatically for a hug, Gina hugged him and he squeezed her until she wasn't able to breathe. "your dad would be so proud that you're here." He said.
Mr. Oscar Bundy was a big man with, a bald head in his late forties. He wore a blue tux and brown shoes. He also had glasses on. He was always sending money to the company every month even when Gina never asked. Ever since her dad died he vowed to always take care of her and at the time she thought he was just saying that because she was his friend's daughter, but he proved her wrong by helping her boost the company.
"Uh, this is Scott, my friend." She said and Scott was surprised she said friend instead of a personal assistant.
"Nice to meet you, sir." Scott reached out for a handshake but Mr. Bundy hugged him and squeezed him the same way he did Gina.
"You're so handsome." He said and that got Scott to smile, Mr. Bundy turned to Gina giving her a questioning look. "I thought you were going to bring Dave."
"Oh, he had business to attend to in Miami," Gina said with a smile, trying to hide her disappointment. Mr. Bundy opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by a woman, telling him to meet someone important.
"Oh okay, you enjoy yourself, Gina." He said then he disappeared.
"Wow, he's a nice man," Scott said.
"Yeah." She said.
After Gina had donated three million dollars, she and Scott were by the food and drink stall talking and laughing. Gina was getting a little bit tipsy, she had drank a lot. And she was laughing uncontrollably. Scott had never heard her laugh like that before it was amusing yet embarrassing because people were staring.
"Okay, come on let's go outside," Scott said.
"Aww, I love that." Said Gina. They both went outside, where the pool was. Some were there but they didn't care. Scott helped Gina sit on a beach chair. When she sat she started to laugh. Scott giggled and then sat next to her.
"Where do your clothes go?" She asked out of the blue and Scott got confused.
"Huh?"
"When you turn, where do your clothes go?"
"They rip off." Scott chuckled and Gina raised her eyebrows.
"Wow, so once the sun comes up you'll be naked."
"Normally yes." He giggled and so did she.
"Wow, that's wild." She turned to face him and she smiled. "And hot." She said and it caught him by surprise when she leaned closer to him to kiss him, Scott couldn't believe it, this was the moment he had been waiting for. He was so ready for this. He also leaned closer to kiss her but they were interrupted when Gina's phone started to ring. Scott almost cursed under his breath when Gina pulled back.
"Oh, that's mine." She said and she opened her purse to get the phone out. "Dave." She said and Scott rolled his eyes.
Great! He muttered.
"Hello?" Gina said. "Yeah, I'm good, mhmm. It's nice so far. How's Miami?" Scott tried hard not to scowl but he couldn't help it. He scowled anyway. "I came here with Scott." She said. "He's my personal assistant Dave." Scott felt a little bit hurt that she called him a personal assistant and not a friend like before. But then he thought it was wise because he knew how jealous guys were, he was being jealous right now.
"Okay, talk to you later." She hung up and turned to Scott. "I would like to go home now."
After saying goodbye to the people she knew, she got into the car to go home. She hoped that those kids would get the education they needed. As for Scott, he was still angry that Dave had interrupted them. Because right now Gina wasn't talking about it. They were awkwardly quiet in the car just like when they were in Michigan. Scott didn't dare to bring it up, so he decided to let it go. Heartbroken he looked out the window. Gina looked at him, this wasn't what she wanted, she didn't want to hurt his feelings. But then he had to know that she was with Dave and she also had to remind herself that she was with Dave.
They had gotten home and had walked slowly and silently inside. Gina had walked up the stairs but she stopped halfway to tell Scott goodnight.
"Goodnight." He said with a smile, it was fake and of course, Gina knew that. She smiled at him and proceeded to walk up the stairs but she stopped. She didn't want to do this to him or herself, she wanted to feel loved again, and she knew Scott would give her that.
So she turned around and ran downstairs toward a confused Scott. She kissed him, Scott was shocked for a minute but then he kissed her back.
