“I can see that.” “No you cannot—” I paused. “Actually wait—what do you mean you can see that?” He tilted his head slightly. “Relax. I can’t see anything.” “That’s not comforting enough!” A small smile tugged at his lips. “You’re very loud for someone claiming privacy.” “I deserve privacy.” “You’re in my apartment.” I stared at him. “…That logic is annoying.” He stepped closer, leaning against the counter. And unfortunately— that made the entire situation worse. Because Adrian standing there casually like that while I was trying to relax was not helping my heartbeat at all. “You missed me.” “I did not.” A pause. Then— “You did.” I looked away immediately. “You’re imagining things.” He hummed softly, amused. The silence stretched. Comfortable. Dangerously comfortable.
