“And you’re with him now,” Marcus said, voice tightening. Adrian. Even hearing it in his tone made something inside me straighten further. “Yes,” I replied. Marcus let out a short laugh. Like he couldn’t believe it. “Of course you are.” That tone again. That mix of disbelief and entitlement. “I didn’t think you’d actually move on properly.” That was it. That sentence.
