CHAPTER FIFTY-ONE Luka I’d been on stage for forty minutes and I’d spent most of it watching her. I told myself it was the job. I watch a room from a stage better than from anywhere else. I can see the whole floor laid out in front of me, every face turned up and lit, every current of who-leans-toward-whom running visible across the tables.
