“I SEE LIGHTS. SOMEONE’S heading this way,” Pleasance called out from the kitchen. Alf held Hani’s gaze. “We’ll talk about this later, okay? I want to hear about the man who hurt your sister.” Hani’s hostile glare slid toward the unconscious man across the room and he nodded. A rumbling sound rose on the air. Pleasance joined them, a large kitchen knife in her hand. She slid it into her pack. “I grabbed some cereal bars and water.” Alf nodded. “We need to go.” The rumbling outside grew louder and lights flared over the front of the cabin. “Hani, is there any chance those are friendlies out there?” “No. We don’t have no family, Lei and me.
