CHAPTER EIGHTEEN HE’D TIED A ROUGH ROPE around her wrists and pulled her along with it. Several times she’d stumbled over one of the enormous roots crisscrossing the trail and nearly fallen. She was so tired she could barely walk and her mouth was dry. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d had anything to drink. At least he’d removed the cloth hood covering her face. “I need water,” Pleasance told him, her voice rusty. She had little hope he’d give her any, but if she could slow him down at all she would try it.
