CHAPTER TWENTY THE MOON WAS A GOLDEN semi-circle at the edge of the horizon. Its bottom half melted into the glassy surface of the ocean and formed a long, gilded tail that trailed toward the beach. A stringy weave of clouds slipped past the giant orb, turning the dark orange sky to lace. The surf formed a gentle froth on the edge of the beach that looked like ruffles on the bride’s gown. A path of flowers led to an archway constructed of vines, covered in large white hibiscus flowers. The pathway was lined on both sides by flickering candles inside large conch shells. Candlelight danced across the happy faces of the guests and gave the groom’s handsome face an otherworldly glow.
