CHAPTER THREE PLEASANCE GLANCED AT him, a worried expression on her beautiful face. Alf didn’t need her imploring gaze to go after the boy. He’d already decided he couldn’t let the child get away from them. The idea of a small boy taking on the adult who’d clearly overwhelmed his sister and kidnapped her was unthinkable. Alf took off running, being careful to step lightly so as to make as little noise as possible. He knew the dog would smell and hear him coming well before the boy did, but he could only hope Pleasance’s connection with the puppy would keep it from erupting into alarmed barking.
