CHAPTER FIVE
PLEASANCE STOOD IN the doorway and watched Hani sleep. He was draped across his bed, lying atop his covers where he’d fallen after a hearty dinner of eggs and biscuits. Despite the fact that he slept fully clothed, with his shoes on like he was on the run from the law, he slept deeply. His narrow chest rose and fell rhythmically, soft whistles of air escaping from between his lips with every breath.
Kona had curled up against Hani and was dreaming, her stubby little legs kicking as she made soft yipping noises in her sleep.
Pleasance grinned at the sight.
A floorboard creaked softly behind her and warm arms encircled her waist from behind. Alf nuzzled her neck, placing a lingering kiss on the tender flesh. “You were really good with him tonight.”
