Chapter Twenty
The atmosphere at the meeting was grim. In other circumstances, Carrie would have been excited and awed to be present at a gathering that included the heads of the British military forces, the Deputy Prime Minister, the German Chancellor, the President of France and other European and African political leaders. Even the President of the United States was present via video phone—placktoids had been sighted in Manhattan. Listening in on the meeting were leaders of nations as yet unaffected by the placktoids.
Errruorerrrrrhch was also listening in and contributing, though only via audio link. It had been decided that her presence would be too alarming and a distraction for the dignitaries who had never seen a Transgalactic Council manager.
