Explaining to Dempsey that they were leaving only took a few seconds, her cousin assumed that Tuck was outside, so he accepted that she was safe. Except Tuck wasn’t outside and the car they’d arrived in was gone. Kadie couldn’t ask for Dempsey’s or he would know that Tuck wasn’t giving her a ride. Getting herself to a main road took longer than she thought, but eventually she got there and found a cab.
