Chapter 3 The tranquil moment they had shared was abruptly shattered by the shrill ring of Diana's phone, slicing through the air like a blade. It jolted them from their intimate K-drama reverie, leaving an awkward tension hanging in the air. Bobby cleared his throat, and Diana instinctively averted her gaze, the weight of awkwardness enveloping them both. Diana's eyes darted to the ajar door, revealing a surprise visitor they hadn't anticipated: Hanbin, wearing a sly grin on his face. Although nothing untoward had transpired between her and Bobby, the intensity of the moment made Diana feel as though she'd been caught red-handed in some undisclosed act. "Well, well! Looks like we stumbled into an intriguing scene," Hanbin chimed in, his voice infused with amusement. "What's the story here?" he asked in Korean. Diana replied hastily, her voice betraying a hint of unease, "Oh, nothing much. He was merely expressing his gratitude. Pardon me, I need to make a quick call." With a crimson hue staining her cheeks and her heart pounding erratically, Diana felt the weight of embarrassment. Bobby interjected, attempting to break the palpable tension, "Shall we return to the pool party and indulge in more drinks?" Diana nodded in agreement, finally extricating herself from the perplexing situation. They left the room, leaving Diana to grapple with the whirlwind of emotions. As she secured the door and let out a muted scream of frustration, a storm of self-reproach engulfed her. How had things escalated so swiftly? It was all too overwhelming. The idea of that imminent kiss had toyed with her imagination, and now she felt a pang of sadness in its absence. Reclining on her bed, Diana's gaze fixed on Bobby's shirtless image hanging on the wall. She was lost in contemplation of what had transpired. Had Bobby truly been on the brink of kissing her? She had stared into his eyes and traced his lips with her thoughts. Could it be that he reciprocated her feelings? Or was it merely the influence of alcohol? But her imaginative reverie crumbled before her insecurities. "He's two years my junior, and he mentioned a preference for younger girls," Diana murmured to herself. She knew she should temper her hope with caution, lest it evolve into heartache. A quiet sob escaped her, her love for Bobby running so deep that it often bordered on agony. She had scarcely dared to fantasize about even a simple embrace, given his status as a celebrity and the clamor of admirers that surrounded him. Dispelling her illusions, she resolved to quell these feelings. Once again, her phone interrupted the solitude, its ring piercing the air. It was her chauffeur, who had collected her friends—fellow offspring of influential figures, just like her. While they had agreed to join the festivities, they remained unacquainted with iKON and its members. Oblivious to the idol world, they were preoccupied with global business ventures and leisurely shopping sprees. Aged around 25 on average, with the youngest being 21, they epitomized the elegance of mature womanhood. Diana wished for her companions to savor their night as grown men, unburdened by their celebrity status. And so, an intriguing night lay ahead. "Hello, Baymax. How close are you?" Diana inquired. He responded promptly, "We're en route, ma'am. Also, I wanted to confirm the drinks you requested." An idea sparked within Diana, and a mischievous grin formed as she spoke, "Fetch the strongest whiskey and wine. We intend to render them unconscious, you know, for a bit of fun. Haha." A chuckle emanated from the driver, his voice warm, "Understood, ma'am." With her special guests having arrived, the excitement in the air was palpable. Seven stunning friends named Abby, Max, Coleen, Patt, Jaz, Faith, and Quinn joined the gathering. Surprisingly, even Quinn was present, despite recent misunderstandings. Their presence added a lively atmosphere to the room. As introductions unfolded, the boys' surprised expressions were priceless. Hanbin's shy smile was adorable as he asked about the newcomers. The girls quickly found their seats next to the boys, and playful flirting ensued. Hours passed with conversations and drinks, easing the initial awkwardness. Teasing and laughter filled the room, making Diana feel like a matchmaker on a dating show. Jinan and Abby's dance captured everyone's attention, showcasing their comfort with each other. Meanwhile, DK and Jaz shared a cozy corner, and Hanbin and Faith enjoyed pool time, leading to a hilarious frozen moment. June's music filled the air as he played the guitar with Patt, who was equally passionate about music. Coleen and Chanwoo's billiards game showcased the maknae line's playful camaraderie. The absence of Yunyheong and Maxine raised curiosity, and Jinan's explanation added to the intrigue, hinting at their own secretive plans. Then there was Quinn, who seemed to have found her place with Bobby on the balcony. Diana's emotions swirled as she watched them from the rooftop tears streaming down her face, the scene with Bobby and Quinn on the balcony replayed in her mind like a painful loop. The ache in her heart was almost unbearable. She reminded herself that she had no right to be jealous, but her emotions seemed beyond her control. Escaping to the rooftop, she sought solace in the view of her friends enjoying themselves. She texted them goodnight and retreated to her room, still wrestling with her turbulent emotions. Lying in bed, she closed her eyes, letting more tears fall. Suddenly, a knock on the door shattered her thoughts. Startled, she opened it to find Bobby standing there. Her heart raced, and she was left frozen, uncertain of what might come next. Tears welled up in her eyes again, and she wiped them away, trying to break the ice. "Hi! What are you doing here? Is there something wrong? Do you need help?" she asked, her voice trembling. "Are you crying?" Bobby asked, his voice gentle and concerned. "I am not, it's nothing! I think I had enough drinks, that's why," Diana replied, attempting to mask her emotions. "So, how may I help you?" Bobby looked at her doubtfully, then pushed himself into her room, closing the door behind him. He pressed her against the wall, his hands on both sides, trapping her. Diana's heart raced, and she felt a mix of confusion and excitement. "Do you like what you saw?" Bobby questioned. "Why did you run away and cry on the rooftop?" Diana was shocked. He had seen her? He knew she was there, feeling hurt? Overwhelmed by anger and embarrassment, she told him to leave her room. But then he smiled, cupped her face, and said, "Do you know how cute and sexy you look when you're mad?" Diana was in disbelief. Did he know she liked him all this time? He teased, "You can deny it all you want, but the way you look at me tells me otherwise." She was speechless, her nervousness almost swallowing her whole. "I, um... I don't know what you're talking about," she stammered, her hands trembling uncontrollably. The intensity of the moment was almost too much to bear. "Oh my god, my hands are shaking," she whispered to herself, unable to control her emotions in the presence of the person who had been the subject of her affections for so long.
