Curse

Chapter 1

*Akiera's POV*

It was a stormy night and a crappy day for me. I haven't eaten for 2 days and now I have to run for my life because I accidentally came across another pack's land. The pack caught my scent coming onto their territory so they chased me through the forest. You may be wondering why am I running and not try negotiating with them, it's because I have been a rogue wolf for nearly a decade now and from what I have experienced packs usually don't take kindly to rogues like me. It's a matter of their pride, just to show that they are a strong pack, they kill any rogues who trespassed except for those lucky enough to meet their mate at the exact time but I don't believe that such odd occasions can happen.

How I wished they would just leave me alone. It's not like I purposely came onto their land.

‘But they don't know that, if it were my pack I would exactly do what I have to do’said Syrene.

Syrene is my spirit wolf’s name, every wolf have one. The spirit wolf mind linked with us , warning us any danger basically like Jimminy the Cricket in Pinocchio except this one helps you understand your wolf's strength better, and have a mind of its own. Which sometimes can be frustrating since mine is quite annoying as she uses every chance she got to argue with me and I mean EVERY CHANCE. She always arguing with me, debating with me but she's all I have, the only reason I'm alive till this day.

‘Hey! Which side are you on anyway?’ I mind linked her.

‘No one's, I'm just saying’ usually at these times I just blocked her out, ignoring her.

As I ran through the forest, i used my wolf's sight to see what's ahead of me. I see a heavily flowing river splashing from side to side. One wrong move, and I could die of drowning. I quickened my pace to try jumping across the river but before I jumped, I slipped on the slippery rocks. I would have fallen if my left arm didn't manage to grab the rock in time. I quickly climbed the rock and try to analyse my surrounding.

The rain starting to become less and I could see clearly.

‘There's no way out, Akiera and it's too late to try jumping again and I can sense they're getting near’

‘Then let's not make it easy fight for them' i smirked

‘Finally something we can agree on’

I shift to my wolf form, my eyes were glowing bright red. I can hear my bones cracking and my body were already covered with silver white fur. The other wolves were threatened by my transformation. Well its not every day they meet a white wolf, white wolves are really rare like finding a needle in a haystack. It is rumoured that white wolves are known to be close descendants to the moon goddess (wolf's deity), and like I said ‘rumoured’. I'm just the same as any other wolves except my senses are much sharper than others but I didn't have the ability to communicate with moon goddess or something like that. And I'm 100% sure that she hates me. But these wolves didn't know that, they only saw me as a threat.

One of them was quite impatient and reckless by thinking that it would be a good idea to try attacking me directly. I dodged his attack and he fell into the river. Fortunately, he managed to hang onto a log and came onto shore. I growled at the remaining others while giving them a death glare. They start to approached when suddenly I saw a figure appearing between them, I can't understand why my heart was thumping so hard and my senses were tingling all over my body as if something incredible about to happen. I got a better look at the figure as he stepped into the light. I'm guessing he's the alpha since he kind of gave out a powerful aura and also the wolves turned their head down as he walked ahead. His body were greatly built even in human form. I can see that he was really good looking, okay maybe good looking was not the right word. I meant his looks was to die for, with his messy black hair slicked back (in a good way) and perfect rugged face . As soon as our eyes met, I saw the most breathtaking eyes I have ever seen. His were cerulean blue as the ocean, I felt like I could drawn to it. What was I doing? Now is not the time to make googly eyes and being dreamy, I need to focus when suddenly my wolf, Syrene screamed while jumping around like a pup.

‘It's Mate!’

‘WHAT ?! What the hell?! ’

‘I'm telling you imbecile that he is our mate, so stop baring your teeth at him, it's a bad first impression’ Syrene scolded me

‘There's is no f*****g way that he's my mate and even if he is, I am not letting my guard down just because of my f*****g mate!’

‘Watch your language, missy and HE IS OUR MATE, ACKNOWLEDGE IT!’

‘Now is not the time for your lessons’ I quickly blocked her out before she could say anything while acting like a lovesick puppy.

I stand my ground and still growling at him.

*Keaton's POV*

One of my pack warned me of a she-wolf rogue coming to our territory, for the safety of the pack I gave out an order to capture her alive for interrogation. But she gave a run for my money when none of my pack could keep up with her. She was really fast and agile. My beta mind linked me that they got her cornered , I quickly went to join them. Its my first time seeing a white wolf in front of me, as soon as I met her fiery red eyes, my wolf, Ash suddenly howling in my head the one word I've been waiting to hear. I don't know what came over me. I growled at my pack and said ‘Mine’. My pack were surprised at my reaction and decided to back off by keeping their heads down.

I reached out my hand to the white wolf but she still growling. I didn't understand, didn't she feel what I felt?

‘She did but she's wary, Keaton. She's been through a lot. Don't scared her’ Ash said.

"Whoa there, tough girl. I'm not going to hurt you okay? Let me help you"

The white wolf stop baring her teeth at me as i get closer, I guess that's a good sign

"I need you to changed back to human form. Can you do that?"

*Akiera POV*

‘Of course, I can. I am not a pup’ I rolled my eyes at him. I guess I could trust him for now, I mean what kind of guy reached out his hand to a growling wolf. He is crazy.

‘ Your kind of crazy I guess, since you kept staring at him like you could devoured him any moment’ Syrene smirked.

‘Shut up’ I glared at her

I shifted back to my human form, and he kept staring me like there is something wrong with me.

*Keaton POV*

She is so beautiful, i can't believe how lucky am I to have such a mate. Her hair colour was the same as her wolf and even her eyes look there was fire blazing in it. Even though, she is scrawny, she had just the right figure that I craved.

‘ STOP DROOLING OVER HER! And give her your jacket, I don't want anyone to see mate naked !’Ash growled.

Ash was right, I didn't realized it, I quickly grab my jacket and cover her while blushing. Her skin was really white. Realising that the pack saw her, I furiously growled at them. They turn their heads the other way

*Akiera POV*

He was blushing at me while covering me with his jacket, I completely forgot that my clothes were torn when I shifted. I wear it quickly. I try standing up to meet his eye level, but he was busy glaring at his own pack. What is he doing?

‘ He's jealous i***t! isn't it cute?!' My head felt like a gong hearing her squeled.

“Can you tell me your name?” Keaton asked

“Its Akiera Anderson” I mumbled

“I'm Keaton Black. Can you walk Akiera? We have a lot to catch up about”He reached out his hand to help me but i ignored it.

I nodded and walked behind him, still wary of him. As I walk , everything suddenly become hazy and I lose consciousness.

*Keaton's POV*

I reached my hand out but she ignored me and followed me from behind, still keeping her guard on. She does'nt trust me. Damn, my mate is a tough girl, I wonder what made her that way. I remember before she put on my jacket, I saw a scar on her left shoulder. It look like it was made years ago, I have to ask Doc about that when he examined her. As I turned , I saw that she was starting to walk weakly and I managed to catch her before she could faint. I panicked so I carry her bridal style to the pack doctor.

“Doc! Doc! Help me quick !” I lay her body on the bed.

Doc quickly examined her. He advised me to take a rest since I haven't slept a wink but I'm not leaving her side even for a second. It was already morning by the time Doc gets out after treating her.

"She stabilised for now, alpha. She having malnutrition but a decent diet would help her get back on her feet. She is really strong, it's a wonder how she could still standing let alone fight the pack even though her body lacks all the essential nutrients."

"How about the scar on her shoulder" I asked

"I can't tell more about that. I figured by the looks of it, it's been there for a long time but I couldn't tell you whether it is on purpose or not. For now, I suggest we wait for her to wake up."

I closed my eyes while holding her hand and prayed to the goddess to give me a chance to care for her and love her for eternity.

*Akiera POV*

I didn’t know what happened , there was darkness around me. I try calling out for someone, anyone but there was only silence. Suddenly a figure appeared, it was me only she was wearing a white dress and I saw her mouth moving. I told her to speak up but to no avail so I try to read her mouth, the only word I could read was ‘you are CURSED’ and blood suddenly flowing from her eyes.

In a split second, I was awake. My eyes are open and I quickly sit back up escaping the nightmare. I didn't realise Keaton was sitting on a chair beside me. He was so shocked by my sudden action that he fall on his back with his leg up. I secretly chuckled at his reaction. He was kind of goofy for an alpha.

"I'm glad I amused you, kitty” as Keaton regained his composure.

“Kitty? Seriously, why kitty?’ my brow rise to him.

“Because your cute’ Keaton answered with a mischievous smile

I can tell he's trying to flirt with me but I just can't acknowledge him as my mate. I can't bring myself to love him like a mate, knowing he could end up like everyone I love. Dead. My wolf whimpered at the thought of leaving her mate, I tried to persuade her that it's for the best. She didn't listen, but I had to. I must reject him.

“Hey, is something wrong? Your getting kind of quiet. What are you thinking?”Keaton asked eith concern

“I'm thinking this is a mistake. I shouldn't even have a mate, I'm not worthy of it. So for the sake of everyone including your pack, you need to accept my rejection. I, Akiera Anderson reject you Keaton Black as my mate”
