As soon as I arrived at the nightclub, I saw Rose talking with her friend Loribelle, who was seated at a table near the DJ booth. Rose had some documents in her hands and was analyzing them. Loribelle was one of the nightclub’s longest-serving employees and had been very close to Rose since she first started working there.
In fact, Loribelle was well-known among our wealthier clients. I’d even say she was a major attraction in the VIP area, and I knew she had received many generous tips, expensive jewelry, and gifts. I also knew she had gone out with some of our clients.
As I approached, Loribelle was the first to notice my presence and signaled to Rose, who quickly turned around.
